Orion Amps
orion is supposed to be competition stuff.
in otherwords i would assume they are good.
one of the only companies i know of to make amps stable
down to 1 ohm..and even half an ohm sometimes...

I haven't heard that but I am new to car audio so you probably know better than I do. I actually did some searches on the W6V2s and I might be interested in two 10's. Between the following amps, which one do you think would power two 10's the best?
Orion = XTR 500.4 = 250 watts per channel
Pheonix Gold = T600.4 = 300 watts per channel
PPI = PCX 480 = 320 watts per channel
Hifonics = Z6400 = 340 watts per channel

If you run 2 of the W6s with the VCs wired parallel and paralleled to the amp, it will be a 1.5 load. I have seen Orion Amps handle down to 1/4 ohm, so make sure that Orion you're looking at can handle 1 ohm and that thing will be putting down some power. That 250 W is at 4 ohm, at 1.5 it will be more than double the W.

I have succesfully run Orion amps down to 1/4 ohm. I have seen JBL amps catch fire at 2 ohms. I have run Pheonix Gold amps pretty hard(older ones). PPI amps I usually installed more for clarity and not many. I guess it depends on price but I would go with Orion or JL personally.
If I went JL, would the 500.1 be good for the subs?
My bad it was the 250/1 for $399. Sorry not even close.

Don't worry about it! Thanks for the other link! SP, you seem to know your stuff pretty well so I hope you don't mind me asking you another question. For good SQ and a decent amount of SPL, what would you recommend from the following: 2 10 W3v2's, 2 10 w6's, or 1 10 W6v2? Thanks!

Thanks, I've been on caraudioforum.com. Great place with a lot of knowledgeable people. I know the JL amps have a hefty price, but I am not too concerned about that.
Ever thought of buying a used amp? You can get a huge break on the price.
I am assuming everyone is trying to bridge the amp to these speakers. I think just about any amp would be able to handle these speakers with each voice coil in parallel run in stereo to the amp.
A bridged amp will see .75 ohms when these speakers are connected to it in the way everyone is describing.
The only type of Orion amp I would recommend for this is a HCCA.
I ran a Soundstream 10.2 to three 12W6s 1000W x 1 1/2 ohm load sounded great.

I have a orion red 225 hcca amp. I bought it in 1996 and it is still going strong, it pushed two JL w4's. I would go with a orion.
