P72 Pistons + B18A/B block?
I'm looking into mating my P72 VTEC head with a B18A/B block. My question is has anyone ever ran this with P72 Pistons? I've had a B18C with P73-00 Pistons and this setup did not run well on 91 octane here in AZ. I'm looking to get a good VTEC pistons but with the lowest compression possible, any ideas?
That would yield a compression somewhere around low 10.1-.2:1 with American P72 pistons, several points lower than your P73's in the B18c. Either those or the stock LS pistons will yield some of the lowest c/r's. By any chance did you dial back your timing or anything when running the P73's on your B18c?
I would just drop some PR3 or P30 slugs in... You'll be fine on street gas with the right tuning... PR3's will get your C/R up around 11.4:1 with a stock headgasket... P30's = ~11.8:1 and PCT (CTR's) around ~12.3:1.... All are perfetly streetable on 92-93 octane with the right tuning.... If you wanna keep your C/R lower then stick with the USDM GSR's or JDM GSR's...

Yea i know.... Probably wouldn't run CTR pistons then but i see no problem tuning 11.--:1 on it.... There should be no problems what so ever... If you still wanna run lower compression go ahead... Good Luck
