Default OT. Non honda related tech question

Ok, this is for anyone used to working on carb/no ECU cars.
My g/f has a peugeot 205 and for the last few months her engine temp light has been coming on and off, its been to the dealer numerous times and they cant figure it out, and just tell her that so long as the car is running ok, then not to wory about it. Anywho, 2 weeks ago i replaced the brake master cylinder on the car for her, as her brakes were crap, anyway since then the light has not appeared once, does anyone know if the brake cylinder being worn/not working/busted could have any bearing on the engine temperature (the thermostat/sensor was checked and working fine)

If the diaphragm in the master cylinder leaked, then you basically had a vacuum leak, which caused the car to run lean, thus hotter. I would check your plugs now, detonation is a plug killer.

Thanks for that info, I checked the cylinder after i took it of and the diaphram was torn at one side, which meant that her brakes were non existant, i just couldnt figure out the realtionship between the over heating light and the brakes. i'll check the plugs for her tommorow and replace them if necessary, they probably need replacing at this stage anyway...again thanks for clearing that up for me
