Default Tranny Swap

I have a 92 Accord LX Auto. I want to do a h22a? swap. I'm newbie obviously, so please don't flame. I simply don't have the $$ to do a full swap and I read that people have just done the h22 manual tranny swap for more HP, is that true? Did I misread? And if it's possible, is it a good idea to do so, I also read that it was a good move to upgrade the clutch and flywheel if i did so? How much am I looking at spending?

An H22a tranny on an F22 wont give you more HP. It might improve acceleration a bit but that gearing an F22 is not a good idea. Too short IMO.

Look for an h23 tranny if you want shorter gearing for the F22, clutch and flywheel would be around $700 or so. Look for a tranny at http://www.car-parts.com, you are looking at over $1000 with parts and labor to have all that done.

nick is correct. I have an H23a1 (M2S4-5) tranny paired with my f22b2 and I it. http://www.car-part.com is a great tool.

yes the h22 tranny(don't the code) will keep your revs real high when you're on the freeway just cruising, and you'll be burning lots of gas. the h23 tranny (M2S4-5, according the accord94dx) is perfect for your f22b1 motor, you'll have short gears for acceleration and a great final drive for the f22b1.
