Balancer shaft question...please help
ok....i know of a couple people who run without balancer shafts in their eclipses...supposedly they get a lot more power out of them that way...what i wanna know is if its possible to do it on a lude (5th gen h22). if so how would i go about doing it....my whole rotating assembly has been balanced and the whole nine....but my auto tensioner just took a **** and destroyed the balancer shaft assembly and we still wont know if theres damage to the actual shaft until we crank the motor. if i could get rid of the headache of replacing that damn thing without loosing alot of reliability it would be nice. any help would be nice...thanks in advance.
How did a failing auto tensioner destroy the balance shafts assembly?
There are other, recent threads on running without balance shatfts. Do a search.

the tensionor took a dump....the timing belt jumped....and all hell broke loose between the timing belt covers...the covers look like art work...the crank sensor is in like 3 peices....and the balancer shaft pulley was mangled...
I took mine off a week ago...noticeable hp gain....there is a slight vibration throughout tho. At idle you can feel the motor vibrating everything a little bit. My car is a "race" car so i don't mind, i got a daily driver but if its your daily driver, i'd prolly be tempted to put it all back together.
