Default hot rod in 2003

this year we saw hot rod going into the 8s, by the end of the year mid 8s. What do you guys expect from the class next year? Any predictions on who will win the class?

I'm pretty sure you will see hot rod in the sevens by the end of next season. We are shooting for the championship, but then again isn't every racer?

Thats some bold predictions but definately possible. Hell I remember when I thought 10 seconds was pushing the capabilities of FWD.

I predict a hell of a battle between Venom, JoTech, and the HP team. They seem to have the experience and the budgets....some stronger in the budget area and others stronger in the experience area.

High 6's for ProFWD??? I don't know about that. I know GM/Bothwell is going to be fast, but I really doubt high 6's. Who else is there in ProFWD that can run a number? Rado, Bergenholtz? Ummm, no. Kubo should be interesting on the new Saturn team, the EcoTec motor is definitely well sorted. I wonder who's building the chassis. We'll see about Shawn Carlson, I heard "someone" protested his motor choice. Besides, his car looks like an egg. Hehe. I'm with you on mid 6's for ProRWD, though. That's pretty much a guarantee.

I agree, with the ET's and trap speeds I saw in Pomona I definitely agree.

I also predict that you Mikey will understand the benefits of deep staging (per our conversation).

what gear-box do you all plan on using to get you down the track to run a 7 or a low 8. factory or aftermarket. or are you switching to automatic. I laid my hands on a pretty sweet gear box a month ago. I am just wondering who is planning on using this perticular tranny? RIght now the problem is the ring and pinion's spreading under launch correct, in a factory gearbox?

I have been reading on here for a while and decided to post. A few thoughts what is the main reason for the sudden extreme drop in et's? Is it mainly cause of the big budgets? A short time ago running consitent 10's was a big deal then the 9's came and people started running that on a regular basis. I mean it seems like there is really not a wall that we can run up against or is there. I mean I remeber the first 9 second fwd run and it didn't seem possible. Then the 8's just seemed absurd. I don't see the Pro RWD cars running 7's all the time and the tube chassis fwd cars haven't been very consitent in my opinion. So now we are all saying that 7's are around the corner in a stock chassis FWD car?

Its a combination of a bunch of things. In the past, parts broke. Now 1 by 1 we are finding all the parts that broke and making stronger ones. Thats where money comes into play. If the interest and money is there, these parts will be made. I think people always have had ideas on a way to go faster, but parts kept it away. I see the sport fwd hot rod class just getting faster and faster. All the walls will somehow be over come sooner or later. The only real wall...which isnt a wall, its the sport of it...is being fwd.

The new Bothwell car should be interesting. The new car is making almost 1100HP, and will be running the new G-Force gear box with 13X31 tires. I heard they are currently testing the body in the wind tunnel and say next year a seven won't be a problem. I think if Papadakis stayed in Pro FWD full time, I still think he could stay ahead of them. But it is hard to smote that budget that GM has.

you must not be talking about a hotrod car because that tire size is illegal to run.

Maximum size is 28 in. tall by 10.5 in. wide with maximum rollout 88.5 inches in the Hot Rod class, I believe it is unlimited in Pro FWD

i dont know about 7s this year. coming up. i'd love to see it, i think we'll see hot rod cars going low 8's... like stephans doing.. 8.12s and such.. and i think jotech will be there, i also think we'll see the ecko crew (gary gardella) down there too dispite not breaking 8's this past year.. that car is setup insane..., the talent is there for them and jotech, i also believe we'll see the gm team getting down there...

but keep in mind guys like jotech and ecko/gardella dont have factory backing
so i support them the most..

ffgaeson what about mike no factory backing and keeping it real ,same with jotech this last season (they did pick up quaker state ) . But thats from hard work and attending as many races as possible some are out there to make a living. And some are out there just to race and go fast ehh like ME .But whatever happens in the future happens . Sorry my carrrer comes first than comes racing I wished it was the other way around but hey gotta work for something ( hehe tony and kenny are making it hard for me to keep my retirment money where it belongs in the bank j/k ) But hey like I said this is a hobby that supports the fans so what everyone is doing selling out or not it all goes back to use the fans and consumers.goodluck again to everyone this season were all gonna need it-pdang

Mike would be the fastest driver on HT with a 9.4et and Ralphy from DRT a close 2nd. tony1 would be the fastest crew (jotech), and FFgaeson would be 2nd with Gary, I think you are with Gary.

yeah geoff's been telling me about that car.. that ****'s impressive

it's funny that street civics are going 9's and more "basic" cars like the peg legged civic are turning great times... i remember how long it took to go 9's.. and how much of a pain in the *** it is trying to cross over from 9.00 to 8.99 has been...

yeah i aint a driver myself.. im a bit big to be a racecar driver

but hopefull ymy project silvia will be a fun project to **** around with..

btw, i was glad to see there were actual racers on this board.. all the other boards were filled with si type guys with i/h/e type mods talking ****
