Default 4th gen gauge cluster question

i have a gauge cluster that has the date august 28th 1988.

its from a crx, just not positive on the year...and i was wondering if there are any differences between 88-89 gauge clusters and 90-91 gauge clusters.

here are the pictures.

thanks, chet.

You cannot put a 90-91 cluster into an 88-89 and vice versa. It does not work.

its an 88-89 b/c the 90-91 has a 3rd electrical connection in the middle of the cluster.

the 88-89 are pinned differently and cosmetically a little different than 90-91.

and you have very hairy legs.

they are different but you can do it . i've done it. you just have to swap some wires and it does create a gap in the cluster housing if you go from 90-91 to 88-89. to swap vice versa you'd need the 90-91 cluster housing. you've got the 88-89 cluster. http://www.geocities.com/twisted91ci...ap_diagram.htm

yuo're gas guage wires into one of the wiring harnesses . the actual mechanisms are are behind the guage cover. take off the clear plastic to get in there but it's easy to mess it up, what are you doing exactly?

My gas guage quit working on me, and after the Honda dealer told me to replace the in tank fuel guage sending unit, I did and it still didn't work... they then told me that it's the actual guage. Anyways I just want to replace the guage and was wondering how it was gonna look/be like once I got in there.
