Sup ITR dudes
Anyone have any experience/advice on timing belt tensioning tips and/or any feedback on using an aftermarket performance belt other than honda:
for instance: toda or power industries < I think it is called.
Based on what the manufacturers claim, they tend to stretch less and are better suited to higher lift cams/stiffer valvesprings and higher rpm driving. I plan on upgrading cams, valvesprings/retainers and up the revs on this engine eventually and I want to do it right.
I have found after about 5K+ of driving hard my belt tends to get a bit of play in it. My mechanic says that the belt deflection between the cams should be the size of the inside of a 10mm wrench when cold. I just ran through everything today and mine had grown to about a 15mm wrench's size. Although, after I changed my intake cam gear out about 5K ago I might not have gotten it perfect. Its happy now, much more responsiveness that I seemed to be missing. I am curious if I can shave a better time out of it now... hehe
By the way here is my rig: 160/122 with 120/120 at 5252rpm at 0,0 and 17BTDC
GSR head, cams, valves, bolt ons and electronics/fuel, HG
ITR valvesprings, LMAs, Shortblock, Flywheel, Muffler
Skunk2 intake cam gear, Ti Retainers
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
