Default #01858 R.I.P. - Need quick answer

today, early in the morning, #01858`s engine blew..

I was at 6500rpm in 5th (190 km/h) when i was near the Autobahn exit. I lifted the gas and suddenly it felt like some invisible giant was stopping me. The engine was shut off but I had enough energy stored to let her roll off the Bahn.

I tried to start the engine but all I heard was a painful noise and, so I guess, pistons hitting valves.... A cloud of white smoke came from the exhaust.

Under the hood I saw nothing special, everything seemed in order. Every liquid was at it`s place, no oil in the water, every belt where it belongs...

I guess, my b18c6 is major damaged. It`s impossible to find a used engine here, so I don`t think I can get her fixed.

Can somebody tell me from where I can get a complete JDM-spec engine. It should be from Japan, because ordering from US is too expensive.

Maybe someone knows an URL.

Guys, can`t tell the pain I feel. Three days ago I installed my full suspension kit...damned.

That sucks, I wonder what happened. How many kilometers are on your engine? What are you engine mods?

That's bad news. But it's just the engine, not the whole car!!!
I thought you totalled the car.....
Just search for a wrecked EuroITR with good B18C6 engine like the one Austrian found. I believe there is one for sale here in Holland.

Ken,
in my case it would be easier to see the car totalled but the engine in order....
If you see a used b18c6 for sale (not a c5), than please send me a mail.

Dr Pooface:
I have 70k km on it. I`m running JUN2 cams and a crower valvetrain, stock ECU at the moment. Maybe the timing belt jumped... don `t know. I have to take a look after work.

I know, but it isn`t.. Had been the first thing I`ve checked. But maybe it missed some teeth.... that`s possible.

Very sorry to hear that Sven ..........

Have the head pulled, see what happened. As long as the block isn't scoured up, or the pistons shredded, you should be able to rebuild it stronger and faster ....

Thats what I would do...unless the motor is completely shot.

check your timing, make sure everything lines up tdc. check your distributor.
do a compression test and go from there. save the headache of having to pull out the motor or taking the head off until you are sure that the valvetrain is damaged. good luck

Yeah depending on the damage, a complete rebuild by yourself (if you are knoledgeable enough) would be what i would do. You could have an awesome motor for $5-6k.

Okay,

yesterday after work I had time to check my engine...
Something really bad happend. A valve had been blocked and hammered a hole in the piston. You can see the rods through the piston.
This could have been the last dance for my R. Note, that we don`t have the possibilities you have, to get the parts that easy... Too expensive, even if I fix it myself....I won`t have the time also.

So it's only the Piston? Block is OK? Whats with the head?

Too bad i know someone who had a complet new B18C6 for 2700 Euro, but it's allready sold. A new block is around 2100 Euro, that's not too expensive.

I know a guy who bought a wrecked ITR for 3600 Euros... Now he`s selling the engine only (!) for 5200 Euros !!

Sammy, Ken,
this had been enough, I think. The block may be damaged, the crank => maybe too. The head must be damaged too, I guess a rocker arm or a valvespring broke and blocked the valve on its movement...

I definitly will not have the money to buy a complete new engine and I will not have the time and the place to work the wrecked engine....

If the block is okay, well than it`s just a piston and a valve, but if the block has to be replaced.....
in this case I will begin to sell all the good stuff #01858 is made of...

Jun cams
Idol throttle body
Icebox
JDM 4-1
Idol exhaust system (hand made of stainless steel)
Racecat (HJS)
Idol aluminium suspension kit (aluminium shocks, teflon dome, doule springs)
Mugen Pedals
Mugen shiftknob
OMP WRC steering wheel
Recaro Alcantra seats
Racing Hart cp-035 7,5*16 ET 42mm winning gold
and some things I just forgot.
