Default is there a final drive for accords???

I know I want one, but do not know if one exists. I also know I could use a lude tranny, but thats not legal in the honda challenge. Are the final drives different between the F and H seris trannies? How similar are the internal parts of the different transmissions?

Internals are not interchangeable, we are 99% certain of that.

Why not get a wagon 5speed? They have shorter gears to haul that extra weight around.

http://www.housemannautosport.com makes custom FD's.

im pretty sure Pro Drive produces FD's as well.

The wagon is a different chassis, and I thought only the 5th gear was different?

The Final drives on the H22a's and h23's are different. You can use those to shorten up your gear ratio

yeah h22- 4.226

94 ex accord - 4.13

95 ex accord - 4.026

i will be acquiring a 95 lude tranny and plopping in a 4.026 fd in there of course you will need the ring and pinion it came from to make it complete with all necessary bearings et all

it will still be closer and shorter than stock gearing on the f22b1

The 4th gen wagons I've seen look identical to my 4 door except for the back roof and trunk area. What's different ?

I hope lude fd works, thats my best bet. Keep the ideas coming.

For honda challenge rules and possibly others{IT, FSP}, I can change the fd, but not the other gears in the transmission. They have to come from the same chassis.

again, where did you get the 4.13 figure for the 94ex (MT right?) I still have 4.026 as the FD listed in the Helms specs.

The H22/H23 FD's should not be different, the individual selectable gear ratios are diff (h22 shorter).

I know the 94 wagon has a 4.266 (or 4.226, dont have manual w/ me) FD, but some of the selectable gear ratios are diff (making it not as short as an h22 for instance).

I'm 99% sure that the only difference in the Wagon tranny is the FD. The wagon FD is the same as the h22 FD. 1st-5th are the same. My Helms is out in the garage, or i'd double check. And, yes the '94 Accord EX has the 4.026 FD, same as all 5th gen Accord 5spd trannies (minus the Wagon)

ahh got my helms.

for all 94 accords (and assuming thru 97)

wagons had the 1st,2nd,3rd,5th, R the same as the coupe/ex accords, except they had a taller 4th gear (0.903 vs 0.933) which was the same as the non-ex/non-coupe MT's, but a shorter FD, 4.266 vs 4.062.

The AT's had a 4.133 FD for coupe/sedans, 4.285 for wagons

MT Gear varieties were:

3.307
1.809
1.185
0.903/0.933
0.685

4.062/4.266

-------
I'm still curious if that wagon 4.266 FD would fit on a Coupe/F22B1 EX tranny. It would be a decent upgrade and alternative to buying a h-series tranny if someone has to crack open the tranny and have the 5th gear grind fixed (or 3rd gear).
