Silencers cut the flow of the exhaust down quite a bit...that's what makes the exhaust quiet.

Mine (T1R) works pretty well. The silencer removes a lot of the drone at freeway speeds, and also keeps the volume at a reasonable level. With the silencer removed the exhaust is pretty darn loud.

SO your saying that with the silencer you still feel a difference in power? I thought the silencer screwed in the end after the muffler and didn't effect the air flow

i dont know about affecting power(probably more torque), but with the silencer, that little hole is so small it reduces the exhaust flow-similar to stock size, making the sound quiet.

i dynoed my RSR exhaust with the silencer and without
on the sohc vtec the losses were 4-5whp and 1-2lb/ft of torque
while on the b-series it was 7-8whp and 2-4lbs/ft of torque losses
the losses were only past 4500rpm

when driving on the streets silencer is your friend, at the track, who cares
_ enjoy the sound on open pipe

The silencer that came with my old n1 worked fairly well.

i do notice a loss in power, but i can really care less when i can actually hear my radio at normal volumes on the freeway!!

i have the skunk rsr for my eg, the silencer is by no means quiet, but it does take the egde off a loud exhaust, not near stock tough. withthe silencer on standing starts are easier b/c low end torque is restored, but there is basically no gain in power in vtech over stock. without the silencer you need to give it gas at lower rpms, but highwayacceleration is soooo much better. i just ride around w/out my silencer, the only reason i put it on was b/c i felt awkward making so much noise on public streets next to stock cars, but then i realized i dont car what people think

I'm flaming you because Vtech is a company that makes cordless phones, and other non-honda related items.
Vtec is the variable valve timing that is found in select Honda and Acura models

I'm still NA for now but I've already got a custom 3" catback with N1 muffler. W/O the silencer it sets off car alarms weekly and I can't get **** for power under 4500RPM. With it in I don't set off car alarms and Ive got enough back presure to get around in traffic. The outlet of the silencer is only 2" so it can hurt the top end flow.

It's not backpressure that's making it faster, it's a higher exhaust gas velocity. Common misconception.

my silencer doesn't make THAT much of a difference but it might be the differance between a fix-it ticket and a warning. i have mines on, better safe than sorry
