Default Result from Skunk2 Stage1, Hondata, and Tuning.

Don't want to drag anything out so I'll just get straight to the point. Here's what I have as of right now: Skunk2: Stage1 cams, cam gears, valve springs, retainters, DC 4-2-1 Headers, and Hondata S100. The tuning was done @ Import Builders (Jeff is a cool guy and great tuner). The VTEC x-over point is now set @ 5450 and the redline is @ 8400. Here's the dyno result compare to my stock dyno result:

The machine wasn't measing the RPM correctly for some reason, so he plot the graph against MPH instead. I am quite Please w/ the result. The car sounds completely stock. There's no way you can tell I have anything inside. VTEC is a little bit louder, but not that much. Since the curve is so smooth and there's no big jump in power @ VTEC x-over point, it feel really linear. Before tuning, there's a massive dip since the VTEC was @ 4400. After tuning, we picked up about 20-30 HP @ the dip and 10HP every else down low. Tuning makes a world different for me and is well worth it.

that seems a bit low for those mods, i bet an exhaust settup would free up lots of power, go itr to stay sleeper.

Yeah, Exhaust, Cat, and Intake will free up alot of missing power. I just don't have the $$ right now and this is enough for right now for stock looking and sounding car.

Yeah, with the higher lift cams, it's being greatly suffocated.

Wussup man, I'm the dude with the white gsr hatch. Get an intake, high flow cat, exhaust...I bet it'll make a great difference.

Hey, wassup. Your car is hella loud w/ the open header. Yeah, I can probably see quite a few HP from opening up the exhaust, intake and cat. i'll get there eventually. You think I can see another 10-20HP from those three stuff?

yeah, interesting...your stock dyno was a little low too. My 95 sedan dyno'd stock at 148...i guess that is close enough. Great post, and i am sure you have more power coming to you once you free up that i/e!!!

I can see you gaining up to 10whp. Considering that during the same day with those crappy conditions...i did 166whp with i/h (open), you should definately be in the 170 range with i/h mods.

Yeah, I was hoping 170WHP but I guess the stock intake is just way too restrictive. I already have headers though. getting a cat and exhaust should help too. My goal is to be in the 170s .

Hondata, Install, and Tuning = $645. Dyno tuning alone is $300.

those are pretty good numbers...your dc header isnt the best either. im quite impressed now that i think about.

guys, i mean consider if he had a nice jdm 4-1 or comptech header, cai, skunk2 intake manifold, exhaust and cat or test pipe...considerable increase

those are pretty good numbers since you dont got an aftermarket exhaust which would probably gain alot of HP since you got new cams.

Get a CAI, Exhaust and a free flowing Cat, you'll see those numbers JUMP.

Also, the Skunk2 IM should give you even more gain.

Stock GS-R puts ~ 145wHP. Cams, Cam Gears, Hondata, and Header gave you a good 15wHP.

Good numbers so far.

142 whp on a bone stock gsr isn't that bad. When I dyno'd my car this summer (in the 110+ degree heat of Phoenix) my buddy's gsr pulled 141 whp....so you're not far off.

You really need to ditch that oem i/c/e. If you don't want to spend the money for a new header w/ 2.5" collector (which I'd recommend for your setup) and are set on keeping your dc 4-2-1....get an free flowing intake, 2.25" cat, and a 60mm (2.36) exhaust w/ a chambered muffler (like the apex ws) since you're concerned about noise levels.

BTW: the comptech won't do much for your setup. It has the same collector diameter w/ smaller primaries than the DC. Power gains from their stepped design would be minimal vs. your DC.

man, looking at this graph really makes me wanna tune. i/h/e, skunk 1's, gears vafc, fpr and im only making 2 more peak hp and 2 more peak tq.

the only reason i havent tuned my car is because im doing a motor rebuild, with better pistons and valvetrain. sooooo tempting tho

Your next mod should be an good CAI. You'll gain more from just that than anything else after what you have already done. The Skunk IM would be another cost effective mod after that. I don't think you'll see big gains with an exhaust just yet. The stock exhaust flows well from the factory.

With an CAI/H/E I got 154whp. My friend got 151whp with just an Iceman intake and stock H/E. 3whp is not worth the $$ just yet, IMO.

I'm not abandoning the JRSC plan. This is just a temporary power bump. Maybe in a year when I have more $$ to spare, the JRSC will be in. I tuned the car because I basically have everything i'll need for a while (at least all the stuff that can be tuned). I'll probably add AEM cai soon and that'll be it til the JRSC. I got the DC 4-2-1 because I want the mid and low end. This and the Cams will go when I get JRSC. Untuned, my car was pulling high 150s. I only gain a few HP on high. I gain the most where I need it the most (mid range).

I've looked at countless dyno of JRSC powered GS-R and it looks like there's plenty more power after the stock redline. That's why I got the valvetrain so i'll be ready to raise the redline as high as possible.

Hey MaliceGSR, post your dyno plot, I wanna compare.

I would recomend an ITR exhaust if you want to keep your car looking/sounding stock. Thats if it will fit a 4 door. Great ##'s btw!

here ya go. my low wnd needs work this was the run at 160. Jeff forgot to overlay my 2nd run. it went to 162/118 after lowering my x-over to 5300
