haha thanx man for the input....i dont go all out liek u do..but the pros and cons of taking them out..i was jus wondering
if u want to clean up the engine bay and u dont mind the struggle of parking then go for it...but if u liek the luxury then keep it..im a lazy bastard and i always have to park in tite spaces so i kept mine but im planing on taking out my AC only cuz it doesnt werk for crap!!!!! HTH!
I recently took out my PS. Pros: Car is more fun to drive. There is more input for the driver. Cons: Parking . Solution: Work out and it will feel just like you have PS.
Go for it if you're a krazy-*** racers that doesn't give a shiet about anythin else.
ok lets end this discussion, i dont like power steering, my LS is the first car ivehad with it and i dont like and i dont want it anymore...i know that a stock DX manual rack is supposed to be able to drop right in but my rack is fine and i may as well keep it
what do i need to do to remove my power steering? will i destroy my rack by not having the fluid circulate through it? looking at the system im pretty sure i could remove the pump and belt myself pretty easily but what about all the lines? can i just yank em and be done?

i drove for about a month without PS.
at first it was horrible in parking lots havin to crank my wheel with two hands at times if i wasnt moving to turn the wheels.
I eventually got used to it except when parking in tight spaces which i have to do all the time (i work at the mall and park in the city very often).
When i put my PS back on, it felt SOOO much better. Dont take it off.
Now, when people talk about the power increase when u have it off, well i cant really say, since it was the same time I put in my JRSC (i ran out of time and had to start working so I wasnt able to hook up the PS belt back on until i had a full day off from work).
And with the AC, well if u live anywhere that ever gets past 70 degrees, you'll want to have AC. If you ever go on a roadtrip somewhere warm, its going to get ridiculously hot, and even if u dont drive with it on, I know most people will at least crank it up when they first get into their cars in the summer time when the interior is still hella warm.

or u can do like my friend does with his ford ranger w/o AC. Ghetto AC by driving with the windows down the entire time in the summer. Its got a lot of noise, but at least u wont bake to death.
i dont have ac and ps , the ac i took everything thing out
the ps only took the belt off cuz im too lazy to drain the rack and all that ****.
every little hp and less weight helps

power steering is always nice. when i do my next car i might not keep the p/s. the a/c probaly wont keep that either. the thing for me is that my nice car usually isnt my daily driver. i have a hooptie that i drive on shitty day and the winter. actually i drive it everyday now since my last civic was sold
also when i park my car, i usually park way out in the middle of nowhere that way i dont get dings. so tight spaces usually dont come my way. a/c is always nice to have, but the more i think about it, i usually dont use it. it robbs so much power that the car barely moves. and the gas gauge fawkin plumits!!!
edit: anyone have pics of there engine bay w/o the p/ and a/c. thanks!

First off, if you are an all out drag racer, then I have no comment. But if you plan to do some road racing and some autox, then you better keep the P/S. I had a EG DX which didn't have P/S and it was hella hard to steer fast.
As for the A/C, you might want to ask yourself rather you really need that extra couple hp. I'm in Chicago and it can get very hot here in the summer. And then, there is the girl effect. No girl would want to get in to a car without A/C in the summer.

keep em on... why take em off for a few extra hp?
My $0.02
i had a 92 MR2 with very sticky Pirelli 225 tries up front on a car that came stock with 195 Eagle's, it was also a mid engine very unbalanced car and very difficult to drive and very hard to steer when going slow and I loved every second of it! The car had responsivenes only rivaled by my Porsche and the road feel was nothing short of phenomenal. when i get a chance to and the wetaher permits i will be yanking that crap out.
does anyone know if the DX rack is "faster" than the LS rack? what about a Type R rack didnt those come with no PS? im sure those would be a lot harder to come by tho
the AC will stay cuz when its hot and humid here it really sucks and those few days i have to drive around like that would be unbareable so the AC will stay, as much as i hate that huge thing sitting under my engine im gonna keep that until it goes bad but once it does go bad its gone
driving a "sports" car is nto about being cozy and comfortable its about performance and doing more than just hopping into a 2 ton hunk of metal and piloting it aimlessly down the road, driving a performance vehicle is about having a relationship with the road and exploiting to the fullest potential the relationship between the vehicle the driver and the road, if more motorists actually knew that such a relationship existed you would see much safer yet more precise drivers and FAR fewer accidents
my $.02

Well, if the Integra were purely for sport - yeah, I wouldn't care about comfort as much. Hell, I'd gut it if I didn't have to live with it. But I do.
The Integra's steering rack is faster than a Civic's. The Civic's is geared down so that it's easier to turn, but does not respond as quickly.

man i really wish there was a way to mate a Porsche 924/44 sterring rack up to my ride damn if you guys have never driven one of those you really should go out and fine one, one of the most predictable to drive cars ever made, at the limit handling is definitely better in the Integra with the Azenis stock for stock
enough about Porsches lol i just cant wait until PS is gone, definitely one of the worst things top ever grace the automobile, i havent done the research but i would be very much willing to be that if you look back at staistics, accdent rates have probably gradually climbed as more "creature comforts" came into place things like power steering, traction control and all the various forms it has taken, ABS and pretty much anything that the car does in place of driver input
put me in a gutted 914 with huge no power no ABS discs at all four corners, and nothing but an engine, stiffer than hell suspension and nothing else except my body and what it takes to move turn and stop the chassis
dont get me wrong here, modern technology has worked woners on the internal combustion engine, especially 4cyl's, 40yrs ago if you said 4cyls wold be putting out more power from the factory than V8's people would have given you the same reaction they gave columbus when he said the world was round 1hp/cu in was the old standard for engine efficiency, now 1hp/cuin is nothing, 100hp/L is pretty easy for a lot of cars now too, i just think that all the crap that takes away driver input and puts it up to computers is just a very bad idea
and noone on the planet is gonna covince me that a computer that cant see the road can pilot a car more safely than a compotent driver in the right vehicle set up for the conditions it will be driven in

I like having my PS off...i feel like i have better control of the car, and more feel to the road.
to each his own, try it out, if you dont like it, put the belt back on.

nope im taking the whole assembly out, belt pump and all the brackets that go along with it, one less thing to clutter up the engine bay and get in the way. I really started to like the minimalist look when i took out my stock airbox and the next thing to go will be the ps unit, next after that will be a civic radiator with slimline fans front and back
could you make the brakes work without that big ugly bulky looking thing on your firewall?

thanks guys for the input...i got one more thing...is there anyone who lives in midwest or any area that snows and you have used your car w/o p/s....lemme know how that feels because i dont have a winter car and i wanna know if ill crash w/o it..thanx
on snow, the steering wheel is very soft, since there is no traction. The one good thing about not having p/s is that you know pretty quickly when traction is a problem.

heh jk...Hey MugenGTR, have you ever heard of Net2Net...?
