What's with component systems?????
I have 2 12's that hit hard and 2 infinity 6 1/2s in the back. Up front I got good tweeters and crisp Eclipse 6 1/2s. They sound pretty good to me. What will switching to components do? I really don't wanna spend all that money cuz I like my eclipse's a lot. The only thing I know is components have a crossover, but will it make that much of a difference? Thanx
most components come with a crossover. this seperates mids and highs. meaning less distortion in your tweeters and 6&1/2's. components are a good investment. you will notice the difference for sure.
You can get a crossover made yes but depending on what you get and such it will run you a bit of money for a custom X-Over. Adire I do believe can make you one if you want but just buy a set of components. I recommend that you look into Focal.
defenately get some cross overs, you can get some no name generic ones for pretty cheap. you will notice the difference. I had some MB Quartz w/ just in inline "cap" and thought it sounded good. Then I just got some Focal's and at first I didn't notice the difference until I played certain songs, it was a world of difference. Also I can play my music alot LOUDER w/ out distortion.
i like having components much better. they just sound better . imo
<-----i have a set of 165k3 focals, and one word WOW. i also have the 135k's and they are great. kinda expensive, but well worth the $ that i paid for them

You can also make your own xovers. All you need is good quality coils and capacitors(NOT Radio Shack!) but most places have a real electronics dist or online.
i dunno if i would try to do that, it might be cheaper and all, ubt if you mess it up at all, you have almost most def shot your speakers
yeah I could use that!!!! I got my components from a friend and he didnt have the x-overs for them....I have it hooked up the same way the stock speakers were wired...but I think they would sound a lot better if I had crossovers
Anyone know where I can get a set of crossovers for 6 1/2 components????????

Yeah, I am doing the install for h22akrd and yeah, one word, WOW, does really sum it up. Honestly, I have used the eclipse coaxials before and they do sound great, but it all depends on what you are into. If your a "baller", go with eclipse because they will sound good enough, but if you appreciate sound quality at all, get yourself a set of Focals. My Father, My Wife and my neighbor h22akrd can all vouch for them, they all own sets. Oh, h22akrd, actually has the 165k set, but he doesn't know the numbers because they are all in my house. Building crossover is not really all that hard, but the Focals are worth it. Check out the Polyglass, Polykevlar or Utopia lines, but ignore the POLYFLEX line. First of all they have a less than sufficient crossover for the tweeter and a lack there for the midbass driver. Second of all, the cone material use on them is also not up to par, but they do make this line just for those who don't mind a little cone break-up and having really no control over the woofers. Enjoy Focal, or just be happy with what you have.

Actually I prefer the PolyKevlar line over any of the others. Yes the Utopia is better but there is one thing.....Those things are beefy. Alot of installation depth issues but then again that is what custom kicks are for. If you want midbass then go for the PolyGlass if you want better SQ then go for the Polykevlar. I myself own a set of the Focal PolyKevlar 165k2s and I LOVE THEM. I am a Focal **** I guess you could say but I can recommend alot of other stuff and help as much as needed.
Simple fact is that Focal is if you ask me one of the best if not the best IMO. I love everything about them. Just depends on what your looking for. Some people do not have the money to drop on Focal though. But hey whatever you want to get.

Did any one else have as much trouble as i did getting the speakers in your doors?
Because I had trouble getting the MB Quartz in, but when i installed the Focals man... that was a real pain. I didn't think my window was going to roll down.

yeah ive always had problems with pioneers, they dont sound good thats the problem
) and it sounded pretty damn good. It wasn't anything to write home to mom about, but it wasn't bad for the money. If you want to go budget, products from Pioneer can work...I wouldn't put it in my car now, but on a budget they are ok

I used to have a real simple system in an old beater Nissan P/U when I was in college. It had one of the first Mosfet Pioneer Heads in it with a set of those older gold cone comp sets in it (<100 from the display at CC
) and it sounded pretty damn good.
