Default Need tuning help in Portland...?

So I've decided to go a bit further down the path. My car is making decent power but I want a bit more on the straight away. I'm going to go with adding a set of either Crower or Crane cams, Toda cam gears and an S-AFC. If anyone has an opinion on this setup, I'd be interested in hearing it. I'm looking to improve my low/mid range power a bit.
I'm also looking for a good shop who can do the install for me and help me tune these mods. I live in the Portland area and need a good shop to go to. I've been to one out on NE 82nd but I don't think they have any in house tuning facility. There's also Speed Options in Aloha which I've heard good things about. And the last place is in Tacoma, WA which I've seen their website and heard recommendations for. Anyone have any advice on who to talk to?

TIA

i dunno really. I've heard of groundzero, but I think their kinda of sketchy, not sure though.

Place up in tacoma. http://www.c-speedracing.com check out their website they have some other company listed as a tuner.

You been to speedconcept or alta sports in beaverton/aloha? Might ask the guys there.

check out http://www.hyperrev.com might call and ask him.

Thanks for the link to C-speed, that's the Tuner I was thinking of up there. Does anyone know of a dyno tuning facility in the Portland area? Does Speed concept offer that kind of tuning service?

It would be good to know who can tune Integras well in the Portland area since I will have boost again by the end of next year.
Speed Concept seemed pretty knowledgable when I was buying parts for my GSX but I never had problems since boost was stock so I'm not sure what they can do as far as tuning.

I have a few good programs for obd1 tegs, I even have a few preprogrammed ECUs for sale, one of them has a Gude program with an 8200 rpm rev limit, and the other has stock rev limit with slightly richer fuel maps. I can change around any of the parameters also. I haven't tested out any of these ECUs and I'd be willing to meet up with you and let you test them out for free, and I'd sell any of the pre-chipped ECUs for $175 or I'd chip yours for $100.
Hit me up,
p28chipper@yahoo.com

I'm in the Portland area by the way

Sweet action man. thanks for the name. I will try them and see what they say.

As for the ECU, I already have one of those Skunk2 chips, I just haven't decided if I want to drop that puppy in or not. I'm not so sure I trust it since the other ECU upgrades I've done have cost like $125 - 150 and this was like $20 on ebay...

Have you put a chip in an obd1 ecu before? If you don't have too much soldering knowhow you can ruin the ECU pretty easily. Those chips off ebay are usually just named something to make you want to buy it, half the time it's a stock program with a new rev limiter. Even then, the skunk2 chips are usually copies of other people's chips. Their chip for the p28 is really a mugen program with a different rev limiter. Pretty shady of skunk2 really.

Also look at skunk2's page. They don't make a non-vtec upgrade period. Are you sure you got a program that works with your ECU? I'll bet if the auction said this was for non-vtec ECUs and it was a skunk2 chip you were rooked.

you know I wouldn't doubt it at all, luckily it was only $20. I do like the idea of chipping my ECU though. Let's talk again in a month after my cam upgrades are installed. I could get down with a new fuel map and rev limiter once I've got my cams installed and tuned. It's a good point though. Too bad you can't track ebay sellers down and smack the crap out of them when its warranted....

What year LS is it? And does that include changing the ECU so that it's 5-speed, or are they just putting a new ECU in? If you get a new ECU and don't know what to do with the old one I can take it off your hands or chip it for you.

I already have a chipped ECU in my automatic.. LOL, rev limiter of 7500 rpm.. someone told me that integras stop making power after 7000 rpm, is this true?

If i go 5speed, I'll probably get a new ECU cuz I'm probably going with a Vtec Head..

Oh, another shop in Portland is "Redline Performance" they specialize in everything also.. Honda/Acura that is.. I lost their business card, but they are on 119th & Stark, take a left by Albertsons.. There's a hot Asian chick who works there.. tell em' I sent ya!!

Loynings dyno and o2 sniffer will graph out your fuel curve and ratio. You need to have a fuel pressure regulator and guage so you can track the results and make changes . If you have adjustable cam timing gears you can dial them in perfectly. dont forget to check ign timing if you adjust cam gears

Heh GroundZero is a bunch of monkeys. When they first started out they swapped a ZC into a guy's CRX and it took that guy about $1000 after the fact trying to get it to run. It seems their wiring was all messed up and they had the firing order off on the spark plug wires. As far as now goes, they do semi-crappy install work and overcharge on engine swaps (IMHO). Plus check out the times they get in their cars. Back in 98 they had a b18c5 in a red 95 hatch that did 14's. They also wouldn't let anyone see the block (gee I wonder why, maybe it was kiped?)

Anyways I don't like ******* on people but that shop is a joke.

Oh yea and ask them how much they charge for ECU work and how long it takes them next time you're in there....you'll pry get a kick out of that.

I have heard some good things about getting my AEM EMS tuned at Horsepower Freaks, any opinions or experiences with that shop? Thanks
