so ive finally coemto the point wher ei havvee to change my muffler and piping due to sum scrapage [is that even a real werd!]...i decided to go with 2 1/4 piping not mandrel bent with a dyno max thrus turbo muffler...now what exactly does a glasspack do? sum threads say it will act as a resonator and sum say it will make it louder...i dont want it to be loud until i mash on the throttle...what dou guys suggest...and how much is too much for piping and installation a flange and maybe a resonator?!?!?
the flange is b/c i want it to be interchangeable....

 

Glasspack is just a term that means the muffler uses fiberglass to muffle the exhaust noise rather than a chambered type design (like a flow master)

Im pretty sure all glass packs are straight though design (correct me if im wrong) so it will make your car louder than stock. I read one of your other threads that mentioned you had holes in your exhaust already. Its possible that a good straight though (glasspack) system may make your car quieter if you have holes in your current system. A shitty new system however will probably not make your car sound any better and you could end up with a car that is still loud, with the extra obnoxiousness of the hollow buzzy sound. your gonna get what you pay for....

oh yeah i spent about 500 bucks on my Greddy EVO no too loud unless the engine is under heavy load.

 

my best friend has the same muffler on his g2 with b16 and it is jsut a little louder then stock but u cant really notice untill about 3300 up... the place im taking my car is owned by my best friends uncle and he said taht 2 1/4 should be perfect b/c it wont rattle like a tin can and the muffler is chambered i believe..all i know is that its not straight through...so im hoping for the best....anymore input!?!?!?

 

Sounds like a pretty good deal.... if your not worried about absolute maximum output or going forced induction later it will probably work just fine
