I did a search, actually tried 3 different searches and NOTHING for the Eg.
I would like to see pics of an Eg with painted headlight housings.
Instructions would also be sweet!
PS <> If someone can pull a thread on this, I'll be happy to delete this one

PICS.
My housings are body color...a metallic charcoal gray. It would stand out better if you used black, but I like mine. Nice and subtle

HID's y0

Before/After HID's, also before painted housings.

I had a really nice How-To typed up, but my comp locked and I lost it, So I'm going to start typing it up here again in a minute.

I had a really nice How-To typed up, but my comp locked and I lost it, So I'm going to start typing it up here again in a minute.
HOW TO:
It's really easy. It's actually easier than it is on a set of EK headlights...those are way more annoying to do. I remember doing my friends, and this is a piece of cake compared to the size of those big insect eyes
Take off your headlights, of course. The entire assembly..black plastic girdle and all
Take out your bulbs, and the rubber bumper on the back.
Then get some needle nosed pliars, and go around the glass where it meets the back off the housing and pry off all those metal clips. I believe there's about 5 or 6. Put them to the side.
Preheat your oven to 275 degrees (250 wouldn't cut it in mine)...stick them in there, glass side down. Let sit for about 8-10 minutes. When it starts melting the seal, you can smell it a little. You know it's about ready.
When you think it's ready, or after 10 minutes, go ahead and take it out. Get a few flathead screwdrivers and a friend. Make sur to wear oven gloves!!! It's really hot.
I put my housing down on my stove, as to not melt anything. It's really hot, so don't set it down on something plastic or anything.
Now, slowly pry between the glass and the housing with the screwdrivers....I started at the pointiest end, the end that's close to the middle of the car. start prying it back... Once it's about an inch off, you can pull the rest back by hand.
Set the glass aside, face down.
Let everything cool for about 10 minutes.
Now's a good time to clean the inside of the glass, since you rarely have an oppurtunity to do so! Windex works good, if not, dish soap and hot water work good too.
Now, it's time to paint. You'll need to sand the chrome down a bit with some 300-400 grit paper. No use doing it any harsher, it won't do any good. You don't even need to sand off all the chrome..just sand off the smooth very top layer, and you're good.
You also need to mask off the headlight rim. You know what i'm talking about..the chrome dome...mask that off, you don't want to paint that. Just the outside rim you want painted. When you get it apart, you'll know what I'm talking about. It's really easy to mask off. If you don't mask it off, your lights will suck
It will look like a dome light coming at you down the road..haha.
After you've got it masked, and the rest sanded..it's time to paint. I used my stock body color...People say you might want to use Hi-Temp, but it doesn't really get THAT hot. You should be fine with regular paint...I am, and I've got HID's. It's all about the prep work
I used a primer, to get a good stick. Primer, let dry for about 10 minutes, then the color coat...Some high-temp paints don't require a primer...so it really just depends on what paint/color you choose to use. I also clearcoated mine...as my color was a basecoat/clearcoat
After you've done that, peel back the masking after letting the paint tack for about 15 minutes (mine was 10 for the primer, then 5 for the color, then clear coat...then 5 more minutes) and I peeled off the masking tape. If you wait too long, the paint will dry over the masking and you won't be able to peel away the masking tape
You gotta know your paint before you start.
I let my housing dry for a day, then stuck it back together with the glass.
Get some clear silicone sealent...lay a bead all the way down around the rim in the housing, where the glass meets. Gently lay the glass down into place, making sure nothing was left with no silicone...you don't want water and such getting in. Once you've got the glass in place, and secure, go get your metal tabs again. Stick them all back on...they just snap in place.
Wait 12-24 hours for silicone to harden, and you're done!
I tried to be as clear as possible, but I'm rushing since I already typed this up once..lol, so if you have any questions, just IM me.
If you're afraid to touch your headlights, I might be willing to help you out if you ask nicely
BTW, mine are more subtle than it would be if you used a straight flat black, in case you're thinking it doesn't show up too good. I used a charcoal gray, so that's why.
Good Luck!

FYI, those of you wondering about light output......it really doesn't affect it at all.
In fact, my HID's look more crisp and the beam cleaner with the housings painted. Seriously!
