HID's in stock EG housings..Pics.
I was worried about how they'd look in a stock EG housing, everybody says it doesn't look good, and that the light output is flaky and the beam pattern is screwed up.
Well, I got mine installed finally.....6K series.... bought them from b20z, and here's a before/after picture of them
The light output is GREAT. Even look good with my painted housings.
It's kind of hard to get a beam pattern picture of them right now, because my car is sitting on jackstands..heh, but the beam pattern is GOOD after I adjusted the lights

before/after

I'm going to try to get my friends digital camera and get some better pics here soon.

WHat does the light beem look like? I.E. Is it scattered all over the place? Take a pic up against the wall.
It's hard to get a solid wall though, cuz my car is immoble, and it's aimed at like half of the brick wall, and half of the garage door.
I'm gonna go try to get my friends digi cam now though

I got them from b20z here on H-T for $430 shipped....
They're the 6K series with Hella ballasts and an h4 Hybrid bulb...you retain your high beam, but high beam isn't in HID form.
It's really cool.

Yeah, but taking out the motor to install headlights is a bit excesive, don't you think?
If you look closely you can see it on the garage floor with my Jun header in the top pic

BTW the lights look badass
I just put S2000 HIDs in my EG.. I'll try and get pics up soon.. i just gotta go take some.. The light output is great, but the spread is kinda sloppy and i think with projectors they would function so much better.
Hi
Hot_Eg :Thank you for mentioning my name for the HID, I am glad you like them. I love mines too the pattern is really good.
Wow took you long enough to get these light on. How is the H22A swap going?
Thanks

Well, I could only get one pic of the spread before the batteries went dead in the digicam
It's a very good picture, but keep in mind this is in PITCH black dark, and I had the flash off. Notice how WHITE it is against my garage door?
...you can see little specs where the lights aren't completely even, but also keep in mind my car is only about 5 feet away from this wall so the spread doesn't really have a chance to feather out yet... I guess I won't be able to see the 'entire' spread until i get my car running again.
Sorry for the crappy pics, stupid batteries went dead and I only got two after taking pics of the painted housings.
H22 will be up and running before New Years
Wahoo.

the painted housings wont affect anything unless the reflector itself is painted
that wall picture looks like there is a lot of upward "light bleed" meaning you will get high beamed by other drivers.. if you're able to get a good beam pattern out of those, i will be amazed.. my cousin had those headlights on his civic, with HID and it was crap.. so did my friend chris, and my friend ace.. all the same results..
not to mention, they had 4300K HID which is WAYYYY brighter and more effective than 6000K.. so if you get a good pattern from those EH headlights, you're the man.

it's hard to tell from one picture but looks like you have a too much hot spot. better get some projectors.
You need a cutoff line somthing like this.
Not my car.

I wish you guys would read...
there is a HUGE hot spot..it's acutally a really big circle, because my car is, quite literally....4 feet away from my garage door.
There is no room for the pattern to spread properly before it hits the door.
Like I said, I won't be able to see the full spread until I get my engine in and can move my car.
Yes, there is upward bleed in the picture...that is because I had both the high beam and the HID on at the same time...all of that upward 'bleed' is actually yellow light from the regular high beam light.
Also, my hood was open, and if you know what EG headlights look like, it's just glass on the top..so light bleeds out and upwards when the hood is open. Also, my car is like 2 feet in the air on jackstands...so that doesn't help how it's aimed much either.
I realize this will never be as clear or as crisp as an OEM HID equipped car, but it looks dang good compared to the other EG HID equipped Civics I've seen around town.
Whoever's ITR that is, it looks dang good....but I don't think it's fair to compare my hot spot to those on a car that have EYELIDS!!! That's why he's got a clean cut-off line.
Maybe i'll look into that though, makes it look clean.

I know your car is sitting high but can't you just aim the light low?
It's not necessaries eyelids that making cutoff line. I don't even think eyelid does anything to the light pattern, well maybe.
Here is a picture of light patterns without the eyelid and close to the wall.
and here is my HID light pattern. H4 D2S bulbs with shields in stock housing.
I think my pattern sucks.
Anyways, goodluck with your project. i wanted to put H22 but gave up.

Looks a bit sketchy, but relatively nice and wide!
I guess there's just no getting around a housing that was designed for an HID beam, but we can at least try right?
Nice car BTW

yeah...those eye lids dont effect the beam pattern at all.. and what do you mean "looks a lot better than other HID equipped EG's"
headlight housings are headlight housings.. only difference might be if they have 4300K they'll be lighting up the ground 25 to 30% more..
