Default Just Got $1500, Here's the Plan

I've a 97 gsr bone stock. I just got $1500 for my birthday/x-mas. I'm planning on lowering, wheels (I already have 2 and 4 tires), reverse indiglos, gtech meter, clear corners, a nice quiet muffler, maybe 2 a-pillar gauges, maybe a tsunami front lip. Think it'll look ok with just the front lip? I've already got a very nice head unit.

I know this doesn't satisfy you people that only care about 1/4mi times but I've got more money coming in and I wanna do a nitrous setup with an aem cai. Right now I want the car to look good (clean, not ricey) then I'll feed it some happy gas.

no indiglo and why the g-tech?

Why I say no to indiglo? Those crappy black transformers die out so fast. They are just cheap made with cheap parts. Save for better parts.

Lowering and wheels and corners are good for appreance. Get some good tires.

Lip is not a good idea because it will probably be all scratched up sooner or later with a drop. Save for better things

Save up your money for a true cat-back exhaust system.

Those are my two pennies.

You could use the stock intake with the nitrous and put just about as many hp to the wheels as with the AEM. All motor is a different story though.

Dont waste your money on the GTECH pro. I used to have one and its not too accurate at all. Make this your new list: springs, AEM CAI, JDM ITR 4-1, 2.5" high flow cat, ITR catback exhaust system (needs a lil modification), ITR rear sway bar. That should add up to around 1100 or not including installing costs if you wont be doing it yourself.

The reason I want the gtech is because it looks so damn good. The new Pro/Competition www.gtechpro.com looks really good and has some good features. I don't want to waste my time doing little bolt-ons for 5-10hp each. I'd rather save my money and do a nitrous setup.

I always see people saying not to buy a gtech because they are not accurate. Many things determine how accurate it is such as if the road is level and flat. I used my Gtech when i raced at the track, it was extremely close, any closer and it would have been dead on. When set up and used correctly the Gtech can be a useful tool.

Get H&R Sports Springs, clear corners, itr front lip, and some wheels. Also, save up for a Thermal Stealth exhaust.

it would be better to do mods to the engine, just like the normal bolt ons, then do the nitrous. that way ur engine will perform better and have the "NAWS" on the occasion. as for getting a lip, if i had your car i would try and find a type r lip. they arent to low, and they look good. most importantly, it wont be like 5 inches lower than you side skirt and it should all flow better. jjust my .02

AEM CAI, Shocks (Koni's or KYB's) w/ H & R sports, Tanabe Hypermedallion ( I have it, great exhaust ). That should equal about 1200, maybe A little more....

You could then get your clear BUMBER LENSES . Maybe an ITR Sway Bar....Or spend a little more and get a JDM 4-1 HEADER..

You could run nitrous on pretty much any motor if you run it safe..those are my suggestions..

greddy evo=500, injen short ram=130, dc jdm 4 to 1=300, carsound cat 100? ...hmm..that equals 1030..youll still have around 500 bucks to play around with for aesthetics. and trust me, you'll enjoy your car a lot more with those modifications.

Yep...had one, lasted me 2 months, they died! NEVER buy those indiglo gauges unless it's an OEM product...

im not a fan of clear corners anymore... but if it makes your car look better then go for it. instead of gettin the tsunami front lip, try to get a stock itr instead... or even a comptech one. dont waste your money getting a gtech meter.

definitely lower your car with some ground controls or skunk2 coilovers, a nice catback exhaust, carsound cat, some shocks, AEM CAI, and a header. youll be on the right track from there.

I do not understand how clear corners makes a car not "ricey"? If i had $1500 i would just wait and buy a turbo kit...

I swear to god you all sound like a broken record. If it's not i/h/e, it's turbo. All day long you guys sit here and tell each other how great turbos are when only 0.5% will ever have the money or knowledge to do it. There are other things in import performance other than turbos. To answer your question: clear corners with amber bulbs are pretty far from ricey. Have you seen oem corners lately?

By the way I'm not dissin the guys with turbos, hats off to ya, I'm just tired of hearing it.

I couldn't agree with you anymore. especially about the .5 percent thing. don't worry mang. its just a bandwagon thing. hondata, jdm, and now everytime someone posts in this forum 50 heads yell "GO TURBO!" whenever someone asks what kind of intake they should get. it is really getting ridiculous.

Why are you buying gauges for a stock motor?

some people jump on the bandwagon and say to go turbo because of the horsepower gain and results by goin turbo. im sure youre tired of hearing it... but its true... turbo is definitely a hp producer. as for the .5%, you have a point. alot of turbo believers advise going turbo, but do not speak out of experience. thats just how it is...

Buy one of those expensive prostitutes, $1500 should get you a good 15 minutes. If not that then I would go with I/H/E and let the snowball begin!
