how to identify a GSR head/tranny
Looking to buy a 94 GSR with some mileage on it - the guy selling the car seems to be into the scene and is into swapping parts and what not and he is currently building a project car - I just want to make sure this GSR has all the parts it's suppose to have - I already checked the block but how do I check the head/tranny without major taking apart?
Whatever year your motor is, you can look and the head, above the exhaust manifold and see a couple of circles with numbers in them. The year of the head should be in the circle closest to the tranny. The tranny could be y80 or s80. Also the s80 could be LS or GSR tranny.
test drive it to be sure about the difference between LS and GSR tranny. You'll notice if it sits at higher RPM's if it has 4.40 final drive. You can also check the VIN to make sure it matches everything else.
