1994 B18C SiR-G with AEM CAI, JDM DC 4-1, Carsound 2.5" High Flow Cat, Apex-i World Sport Catback Exhaust, B&M FPR.
I am getting the Hondata S100 for Christmas, and I am planning on having Jeff at Import Builders tune the car.
Currently, the car feels like there are slight "hick-ups" as the RPM increase. I have brand new NGK plugs and a new dist. cap and rotor. I was thinking that my fuel injectors could use some cleaning.
This is what I am thinking I should do before I take the car into Jeff to have it tuned:
1. Have the injectors serviced and cleaned. I don't really know where to take them.
2. Purchase a new Walbro 255lph fuel pump from the "Best Buys" forum to replace my stock 1993 CX pump.
Since Hondata dyno tuning is so expensive, I just want to make sure I get an accurate reading, so I don't have to have it tuned until my next major set of modifications.
On a side note:
1. When the car is tuned, will Jeff adjust the FPR and the timing to the proper specifications?
2. With the Hondata chip in place, will my car be more likely to fail the "sniffer" portion of the smog test, or will it be better, because the engine will be using the "proper" fuel tables at the various RPM levels?
*This was in the "TECH FORUM" but unfortunately there is not a lot of "tech" talk happening there these days

send your injectors to rc to get them serviced.
i would suggest a 190lph fuel pump instead of the 255 monster you are considering. 255 is more of a forced induction size.

I've sent Jeff several emails, and yes, he has been very responsive. I just feel bad asking him a million questions. I am going to send him an email this coming Monday.
As for the fuel injector cleaning, I know about the RC Engineering service, but I was just wondering if they are the only reputable people who do this kind of service. Is it worth having them "flow test" the injectors, or should I just have them clean them up?
I wasn't sure about the fuel pump. At first I was just going to get a used GS-R pump from a junk yard for $55, but then I saw that I could get a brand new 255lph pump for a few bucks more. Can it hurt to have too big of a fuel bump?

On a side note about the Walbro fuel pump: I have heard that I will need to drill a bypass hole in the FPR to use the Walbro pump. Can anyone verify this? This was the first time that I have heard that replacing the fuel pump was more than a "plug and play" process.

we just hooked up a 255lph for my friends turbo teg, and it was simply plug-n-play, even with the b&m fpr.

Damn Rod, 166whp with just I/H, and no fuel management! That is on a USDM B18C1, right? Now I really want to know what I am making on a JDM B18C SiR-G.
I thought that the Walbro fuel pump was simply a "plug and play" process, but some guy in the "Tech" forum responded and said that I need to drill a bypass hole. I was kind of thinking something was fishy. I will probably just go with the 255, I have hopes of boosting one day.

Thanks for the link. Wow...I think I'll order a 190lph walbro pump for $82. That's cheaper than used itr/gsr pumps usually.

93SSP- i suggest that you talk to a few more people before going for the 255. i am not sure how well you will be able to work around how much it flows, even with hondata and fpr.
think of it this way...you could get the smaller pump righ tnow, have a smooth running car until FI in in the picture, then sell that pump and buy the bigger one. in the end you won't be out very much money at all.

I think that most people just upgrade to the GS-R or ITR pumps. Does anyone know how many liters per hour they flow?

looks like these are the correct rates. i know there are alot of numbers floating around on this site, but that's to be expected with so many people.

Muchos Gracias Hanson! You seem to be the man with all of my answers. I am going with the 190.
Is there any other preparation that should be done before I go to have engine dynoed?
I ran a compression test about three weeks ago, and I came up with some disappointing numbers: 195-185-185-190. I would like to run another test because the car was not warmed up at all
, and I don't think I had my foot all the way on the gas pedal for open throttle. Do you think I should still invest the $300 for Hondata tuning if the compression is low?

Yea dude...warm ur car up and make sure that ur pressing the gas pedal all the way down. I did recently and yielded 210-210-205-210.
BTW, what compression is ur motor? You have a JDM gsr right? What is that 10.6?

I just did a comp test on my jdm b18c and got
221-222-221-223
10.6:1 is right
and I am getting a walbro 255 lph cause of the n2o here in a little bit. I am purposly running a higher fuel jet so i dont go lean on the lil' civic pump

I am going to be pissed if the engine does not break 200 across the board. What is average compression for a stock JDM GSR engine? I noticed that someone above had 220 on there B18C, was that stock, or is that with some head work?
I have no head work at all, just some cam gears and the regular bolt on's. I think I may have a freak engine though. It was dynoed again type r's with bolt on's and I make about 7-10 more whp than them
I dunno????

I really don't want to get my hopes up for impressive dyno numbers, because I know I will probably be dissapointed. I am shooting for 160-165whp, I would love to get to 170whp with my current setup plus Hondata and tuning.

sounds like you have just about everything else in order, save for the hondata. congrats on making some good decisions and being fully prepared for some tuning.
unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be many people in this forum with solid hondata knowledge. you might wanna ask about it in the forced induction forum where tuning is a widely practiced art.
i have a 94 jdm gsr motor about 70,000 miles on it now. compression readings are 230 230 225 230. no headwork. bolt ons and ctr cams only. i still burn oil though
