my pop found a type-R and wants to buy it. Is this a good price?
97 type R, bone stock, 55,000 miles
No Mods at all, very clean
$17,700
guy is a Dr., said he autocrossed it twice, and never took it to the track.
Front bumper has been repainted.
thanks!

don't know, the previous owner did it. I think it was cosmetic. Pop is taking the car to a mechanic today to do a compression test and check if there was any front end damage. Dad said front looks fine visually. Told him that the compression should be fine at 55K, unless the guy really beat on the car.

the car also has a brand new OEM clutch/flywheel and comes with a set of nice looking winter rims and tires ($400 extra, tires have 90% tread), and the car has good tread on the summer tires that are on it.

yeah, my dad's cool. He wants an S2K, but it only has 2 seats, and they are pricey. He's also been looking at '92 NSXs. I told him that a '97r was the best year typeR, and you can actually put stuff in the trunk. Plus it will hold its value, so he can always get the NSX later (and sell the R to me. HA!).
I got my '95 Gs-r from him . . .

How come only the 97 Type R hold the value?

I called the guy and got pix emailed to me - That car is in MINT condition for a '97!
His wife is prego so he's looking to sell it but doesn't really want to!
I saw the ad in the Washington Post for it on Thursday (Thanksgiving).
Someone needs to buy it and store it away! '97's are bound to be collectors editions in a few more years - as if not already!

I also say offer $16,500 and see if you can get it to $17,000 or so. Sounds like a great deal and a repainted bumper is definitely no big deal. HELL, I may repaint the front bumper on my 97' eventually after a couple more years or so.
But I must say that the 97' ITR is the best
-Larkin who quite possibly got the best deal ever on his 97' ITR
