Does the S2000 use a timing belt or a chain?

w/the s2k's high *** redline, a chain is neccessary.
The advantage of a belt is less parasitic hp loss...guess they figured that out too w/the s2k's 2.0 making 240hp

good thing it has a chain, now u dont have to worry about changing a 'belt' every 90k miles.
do the chains last as long as your car or u still have to change them periodically?

because the JDM Type R's dont have as much torque and dont produce 240 hp
I can see the speed of the crankshaft increasing inertial stresses on the timing belt.
Other than that, say you put a huge supercharger or turbo on an engine, increasing the power by 10x. How would that change how much force it takes to turn a camshaft or water pump? That's where the stresses on the belt come from.

yup chain
chains dont slip
just stretch over long periods of time
some older domestics use chains and some new ones
i wonder if toda will need to upgrade to a strnger chain for there cams like they recommend for the b-series

so why does the jdm type r have a belt instead of a chain? it rev's to 9k rpm to.

DC5-R has 8400 rpm at 220hp.(jdm spec)
