Default How to safely store a B18C5 motor??? (maintainance wise)

There she is, a timid and fragile PY wreckage, sitting and waiting silently for her nightmare to be over. Ever since her fatal blow in September. She spent one month in the body shop, sitting there, quietly without fireing up the engine and moved abit. She was moved up and off the tow truck in October to store it in to a shop, and simlaritly moved again within a couple weeks. The car drives, dripping dropplets of oil, and with the broken axles, she moves in a painful note that brings me to tears...

To this day, she's still there, breathing her last gasp of air beneath a thin layer of cover. Rotors rusting away, body panels rusting away...its soul wearing away patiently, awaiting for her resurrection.

A hatch shall soon be located and bring in to the rescue of the isolated B18C5 that awaits of its release to the joyful notes of VTEC once again. But until then, how do I keep up her dying spirit???

(ok...what I am trying to say is. Are there any specific methods to be use to keep the car in good shape...like run the engine for 5 minutes every week..etc. But also keep in mind that there is an unknown oil leak....)

umm well ima just skip reading all the drama as long as the tranny is on then nothin will rust.. u might find small rust spots some places but not on the tranny, block , head. tape all the holes (if any) from hoses shut.

pour some marvels mystery oil in the spark plug holes. it bonds really well to the walls. just a cap full or so in each though. i turn mine over by hand every week or so just to keep them lubricated.

It wouldn't hurt to go warm her up for a few minutes once a week or so.
Are you sure there is no motor damage? You did say it has a mysterious oil leak.

Good luck with the hatch/itr transformation

As expected...can't play nice for too long.
I don't see anything wrong to have a little sentiments like every other human beings. ...especially for things that has a great effect in one's life.

I will hold back on this one because I have courtesies for this forum and fellow R-Speed members.

I had a B16 in my garage for about a year before installing it. When I put it in, I filled it with oil, pulled the plugs and cranked it until the oil light went out on the dash. Put the plugs back in and she started on the first crank.

Just the same, I like to start my autox car every 2-3 weeks during the winter. I let it run until warn and then shut her down. Mine isn't leaking oil though. Do you know where it's coming from?

So your engine was empty in oil right? Should I empty engine oil if I plan to store it over the winter? I currently have 5-30 in there for a while, will the oil loose its quality overtime in an engine?

i heard it was a good ideal to empty all the fluids.. but im sure it wont hurt to keep them in there also. keep everything lubed up.

It was empty while it was stored for a year, and, of course, there is oil in it during the winter. I can't say what you SHOULD do. This is just the way things worked out for me, and everything was okay.
