Default Why are Type S pistons so sought after??

Why are these pistons better than stock one?? Will they fit an H23 engine?? What are the benefits??

They would raise H22a compression to 11:1 from 10:1

You could put them in you H23 as long as you modify your H23 rods. Actually becuase H23 chamber volume is small than H22 you would get over 11:1 compression.....

Damn Satan, you are very helpful. Thanks man.
So raising the compression of my motor would be beneficial.....how??? When you say higher compression...that means that there will be more volume between the top of the piston and the head of the engine when the piston fully reaches the top of it's stroke?? I am learning so bear with me.
Thanks.

There will be LESS volume because the piston is domed out more...

11:1 ( BDC volume : TDC volume) so the air/fuel is compressed at 11 times it's volume, vs. 10 times it's volume.

More pressure gives a more pure combustion (?) and you get more power out of it...rule of thumb is 10 WHEEL hp for each CR point....

oh, ok.
So this means that the engine will run a little hotter??
So is that basically what the difference is between the Type S pistons and the pistons in my H23??
I am gonna be rebuilding it because the person who had it before me THINKS he spun a rod bearing. Is it possible to fix this??

I coulda swore there was a thread a while back where someone put the Type-S pistons in an H23, and they tapped like a ****. Don't have time to search for it, but i'd check on the valve clearance beforehand.

I would also be worried about valve clearance.

Thats a good question. I too would like to know what all the fuss is over these pistons when you can get a killer set of Arias or JE forged units spec'd to the compression you want.

Can you even run 11:1 on premium pump gas?? I know alot of cars that run at 10:1 like ours, but 11??

11:1 is fine on pump gas. With the right setup you can get away with 12:1 sometimes, but thats pushing it.

Aren't Arias and JE forged? You could't do that without sleaves.

So Satan, how would the the h23 con rods need to be modded? Are the Type S pins bigger than 22mm?

My Celica has 11.5 stock, and the best I can get is 91 octane, and it runs fine. Just out of curiosity, how long would it normally take to install them, and what would it involve. Thanx.

type R's run 11:1. you can run 87 on prelude engines but the knock sensor will cut back timing dropping your HP.
