Starter going bad...what would you do?
Well it seems as if my starter is going bad. After a couple of times of starting my car, it comes down to the old "kick the starter's ***" way of turning over the car.
My question is, since my car is for sale, I'm not looking to pour any more money into it. So, I'd rather not get a new starter. How many people have actually rebuilt their starters (because I think it's just a "flat spot")? Is it hard? I've heard it's usually only $10-20. I have access to a full shop and tools, so is it possible? Anybody have any pics?
BTW, the motor is a 1995 B18B.
Thanks in advance!

I'd just hit the junkyard and pick up a used one. I got a used alternator and the bitch is workin for well over a year now. Can't beat it for $25.

I rebuilt mine a year ago and it is working just fine today. Paid $60 bucks. 0 problems today. I took it off and brought it in myself and they only took two hours to do it.
everyone who responded has the right idea, I bought mine rebuilt and installed it, took 20 minutes, 30 minutes if you consider the 10 minutes I spent at the autoparts store

Don't rebuild. Just get a new one and install yourself, or get one from a junk yard and install yourself.
Problem with buying a new one is that nippondenso go for $400..That is not good advice.
A new one from auto parts store is $200 and it is not as good as nippondenso.
ONe from a junkyard has probably let the elements and water get to it ask any starter/alternator rebuild shop, water is the starters worst enemy.
who knows how long the junk yard one was getting water on it.
Or you could spend $60 on rebuild where they put new contacts and new spiral wiring on motor and its even better than new...it spins even faster and the car starts in one crank, its very strong
I used to work refurbishing starters and alternators and a lot of times on starters you can pull them apart, replace the brushes if worn, and clean the commutator with fine sandpaper(600) and it will work, unless it's the solenoid, which you can usually replace seperatly.
I'd say try going to you-pull-it. If your at UF, you have plenty of options here in Jax. I was also have a 95' B18B with a bad starter, but mines also about to get sold so I was trying to hold off on getting a new one.

I will check the U Pull It in this area though.
Thanks for the replies everyone!
