Default opinion on whether or not I should buy this GSR..

OK...

Car has 110x miles on it. The body is in great shape, no door dings, dents.. just paint fading on the spoiler and some of the side moldings. I drove the car and it still pulls like a champ, vtec comes in nicely, etc, etc..

Now.. for the bad.

I noticed oil under where the car was parked - He claims theres another car that parks there that DOES leak oil - we saw no dripping oil under the GSR (it was night time though) but he says he doesn't know whether the car leaks or not but he says he puts his word down that it isn't the pan but probably the oil pan gasket. What else could it be?

Next.. He bought the car for cheap because the person that was selling the car had the original GSR ECU stolen out of the car. He put a p28 ECU that was mapped(?) for a Type Head/Manifold so he says because it's for a Type R it's not working till it's full potential on the GSR because the manifolds are different. THe car has no rev limiter and I heard Vtec at 5400 and he took it till 8600.

The car from a quick inspection seems to have those 2 "problems" He is selling the car to me for $4500.. I think that is a good deal around here, no other GSRs have I seen go for that..

My intentions with the car are to rebuild the motor (still debating all motor/turbo) I might go high compression so I don't have to be slow while I save for a turbo after the low compression rebuild. So the miles on the car don't scare me, motor starts right up and still pulls nice with no fucked up sounds or anything.

Basically I want some of your opinion so I don't throw away 4500.00 - It's a private seller and hes been very honest and has pointed out some of the things wrong with the car - the reason he is selling it is because he originally bought the car because he crashed his 94 LS and he needed a car to move around in and he got the car for a good deal because it had no ECU - the reason he has the p28 ECU chipped for an ITR is bcause he has an ITR head and LS block sitting in a shop getting built - he is selling the GSR for money for a LIGHTER chassis.. The guy seems honest I just don't want to make a mistake.

My car has 145,000. Just went through a head gasket. Save your money. Get something new, save the headaches. Not hating, Its just a bitch not having your ride. Dont inherit someone elses problems to save a buck or two.

if he wants $4500 for it. he's not gonna sell it for 2 that's for sure.

if you're planning to rebuild the motor anyways. i would get it. still a good price imo

you have to put it this way. the motor/tranny is not the only thing that has 145k miles. The whole car does. All the bushing, suspension, and all of the moving parts has 145k miles on use to it. Dont get me wrong, i just got a 94 ls with 137k and it runs beautiful, when u drive it, you feel that the car has 145k. You have little noise here and there. I drive my brother 94 gsr with 68k and the car is like a champ compared to mine. Also, $4500 isn't the BEST price for a gsr with that much miles, its an average price. Dont hesistate and get the first car in front of you.

Thanks for all the input so far, appreciated

I don't think it's a blown headgasket, the car wouldn't run right at all with one would it? If the small oil leak is something simple like the oil pan gasket then it's no big deal.

I did a Carfax on the car as well and it came clean. The car would be a project daily-driven car. I don't have the patience to save up another 4 grand to buy a better/mint condition GSR - I figure I could get this car now for a decent price and rebuild the motor/suspension etc with MUCH better parts.

I just need the car to be in running condition while I do all that..
