Default Mini Me Swap Costs Vs. power gain

hey everyone. im new here. if i can get some pix of my 91 crx on here i will. nothing special, just black with some rust. Im looking to play with the engine a bit, possibly do a mini me or a ZC as i dont have much money and am going into collage soon. i was just wondering if it was worth the money to do a mini me and if not, what my best bet would be. Spec's: 91 CRX (DX trim) 1.5L DPFI how difficult would it be for a complete car idiot to perform this vs. the cost of having a shop put it on. (a mechanic quoted $400.00 to swap in anything (mostlikely a ZC)

if u do it urself it shouldnt cost u more than 500 to make the mini me..
since u got a DX 92 hp , yes u will feel a diference and will likely be the3 best mod for the buck....

Is it worth it to have VTEC if he doesn't convert the wiring to OBD1? He could just use a 96-00 dx cylinder head and save himself some of the headaches of getting the VTEC head to run right.

I have a Z6 head on my stock 89 Civic Si bottom end and aren't having any problems with it. I'm running the stock OBD0 PM6 ECU with a Fields SFC-Vtec controller.
