Mini Me Swap Costs Vs. power gain
hey everyone. im new here. if i can get some pix of my 91 crx on here i will. nothing special, just black with some rust. Im looking to play with the engine a bit, possibly do a mini me or a ZC as i dont have much money and am going into collage soon. i was just wondering if it was worth the money to do a mini me and if not, what my best bet would be. Spec's: 91 CRX (DX trim) 1.5L DPFI how difficult would it be for a complete car idiot to perform this vs. the cost of having a shop put it on. (a mechanic quoted $400.00 to swap in anything (mostlikely a ZC)
if u do it urself it shouldnt cost u more than 500 to make the mini me..
since u got a DX 92 hp , yes u will feel a diference and will likely be the3 best mod for the buck....

what does it take to do the installation? im a complete car idiot so if i can be pointed to some Pretty specific instructions, i can handle the tools (hehe.. my dad always tinkers on his motorcycle and has torque wrenches and prolly everything i need) Where can i get all the parts that ill need and the ECU
do a search on mini me on archived topics
tons of **** will come up
anyways u need to
convert ur car from DPFI to MPFI
u need an injector resistor,
88-91 civic/crx HF Si or EX inyectors
CRX or civic 88-91 Si, HF, EX dizzy
PM6. or 88-89 PG7 ecu
Z6 or Y8 head(Y8 u can bolt Si dizzy without modifications, on the Z6 u gotta modify)adj cam gear since mini me's are almost half tooth off...
Z6 or Y8 head gasket
some sort of VTEC controler
intake manifold off any Si or Z6 or Y8....

Is it worth it to have VTEC if he doesn't convert the wiring to OBD1? He could just use a 96-00 dx cylinder head and save himself some of the headaches of getting the VTEC head to run right.

I have a Z6 head on my stock 89 Civic Si bottom end and aren't having any problems with it. I'm running the stock OBD0 PM6 ECU with a Fields SFC-Vtec controller.
