Default Help ID this Carsound Cat!

A couple months ago I bought a carsound cat from the HT classifieds, in the ad the guy said that it was used with a jdm 4-1 header and stock exhaust, he was also selling various itr parts... He said that the cat was purchased from IPS Racing, which I believe, the cat has nice welds and seems to be put together very well.
The problem is that I measured the cat and it seems to be 2.5 in and 2.5 out
and also that the cat is a #94000, which I have searched and never found any info on. Last thing: the cat measures 16 and 3/4 inch in length is this the correct length for my 01 ITR?
Will I have to get a flange welded on to my stock exhaust for this to work.

Please help and give any info, and yes I have used the search function many times on this subject...just no answers.

Hey,

The cat more than likely is the 94006. I am not sure of the correct length the cat should be, but I will measure my cat tomorrow if that will help you. The cat will measure 2.5" in/out because that is the outlet diameter of the JDM ITR 4-1 header. It will also bolt up to the stock exhaust flange, but there will be a nasty bottleneck at this connection. I would have a muffler shop or SMSP make you a smooth transition flange to go from 2.5" to 2.25". Also, remove the bottleneck at the flange(s) from the b-pipe to the rear section. Your next step is to find a "reputable" muffler shop in your area. That is the key.

Hope your Thanksgiving was good.

HTH. Later

Thank for reply, Im hoping that the length of the cat is correct...I only bought this cat to use in the cold months ( I hate aftermarket exhausts in winter, very dirty...too cold to wash car that often) I wanted it to go with stock exhaust unmodified, but now that I have 2.5 in/out I think I will go ahead and send SMSP an IM and get the flange...I probably need it anyway.

Thanksgiving

No problemo.

Good choice. Bottlenecks Remove the rear section bottleneck at the flange and you will be set. Maybe get a new rear section for the track or street.

Glad I could help.
