Which Helmet do you use?
I'm looking for a helmet to do autocrossing and road racing in. Maybe some drag racing too.
Right now I'm thinking either
The BELL M2

Or the BIEFFE F1

Which is better, or is there another one better than these two for under $350?

same here
i use the bieffe F1 and i can't say enough good things about it.
great helmet.
keep in mind the fact that the F1 is an open-wheeled helmet so that the eyeport is pretty narrow--this might not be what you're looking for in an autocross helmet.

I know, but the bell Mag 4 you suggested is an open face helmet, not suitable for HPDE's

Why do you need a helmet? To protect your head. Why would you want to leave half your head exposed?! Get a full-face helmet! It's SLIGHTLY more inconvenient at first for autocrossing if you're used to an open-face helmet, but you get used to it in a hurry. If you need to see something below the faceguard, you're not looking ahead enough while you're driving anyways. In the unfortunate event that your car ends up as a flaming ball of scrapheap, a full-face helmet will keep your face from getting smashed into anything that you might be getting thrown at inside the car, or any flying debris that may be aimed at it during the journey. In addition, it gives you fire protection since you won't have flames and smoke directly searing your eyeballs while you're trying to get out.
Getting your face smashed in and lit on fire would SUCK.

Try the Bell M2 or the Simpson Voyager, I think.
So, are the helmets listed only good for primarily auto-x'ing or track racing. Is there a full race helmet out there that is good for both thats around $300?
****, maybe we should wear helmets and nomex suits while just walking down the street, or riding a bike...you never know what will happen!!

Bieffe F1 SA 1995 with Alex Wurz graphics. Fits killer, just cannot use the visor... gets fogged easily.
EDIT: Ok, I'll stop being lazy... no pics but it looks like this...

I have never been to a HPDE where a full face is required. Maybe each school has their own rules.
Best case scenario would be open face for autox and full face for HPDE/Time Trials. But, if you are only buying one, just get whatever helmet will fit the best that is full face and is in the current SA rating (not M or DOT rating).
