Just lowered my car... stupid man hole cover!!!
Just lowered my teg, and the second day after lowering it, smashed right into a manhole cover... couldn't avoid it (cars on one side, curb on the other)...
How long did it take for you to mess up something? And how long did it take for you to get used to driving over imperfect roads and judging heights of stuff that you could safely pass?
Replaced the header last night with new ones, I HATE spending money for something that I already had....

holy crap thats a pretty big gash... are those DC Ceramics? just curious...
I don't remember the first time I scraped something.. but I was always cautious w/ my car after it was lowered... but there are some things you can't avoid..
I had a Trust B/L (same as Greddy S/P) exhaust on my car and the muffler/canistor portion was quite large.. I would scrape the bottom of the mufler coming out of some driveways no matter what angle I took it at...
and other times it was unavoidable to scrape the cat and B-pipe on a speed bump... I kind of knew what I was in for before I lowered my car so I was always careful but some things you can't avoid...

Yes, DC Ceramics. I am definitely much more cautious now... ack! I thought I could judge the height of stuff properly, but this one left me no choice (I had driven over it before I lowered it without incident...) I just hope that I dont spend all my upgrade money on replacing my exhaust every other week...

I lowered my teg about 2"... and yes, those were 4-1 ... Wife was definately not happy when I spent more $ on it... just spent the money for the lowering springs, then the SPC camber kits and the alignment... then this.. eesh... starting to make me regret the drop, and it has only been about 3 days (counting today)... but I love how the handling and the ride is now...

How tall was the man hole cover? Where I live the man holes are mosting off the road, and when they're on the road, they're on the same level as the road itself(not sticking up).
My car is lowered 3.5" and i just got rid of my 17's and got some 98 LS wheels for now so it sits about an inch lower than it used to, i am scared to death of manholes. today coming down a speedbump someting metal hit the road
..you can repair that one.
Damn, I have the same set up as you. I've had my car lowered for about a month now & still I'm ever sooo careful about rough roads in Houston.
I think he's being sarcastic
. Mine got pretty scraped but its not really dented. I dont think wnewer tegs have them, but on my 90 i have a center crossmember. All i did was make it lower by putting washers between it and the body and now that is lower than the header. Now that crossmember can scrape all it wants, the bastard is strong as hell.

jesus...i am lowered 2" too for almost a year. i have never had any problems except minor scrapes of the front lip on really impossible driveways (mosty narrow ones that can't be angled) I've probably put 12k on the car and driven all over from northern to southern cali...many roads were unknown the first time too. never even seen a manhole cover that could do that!
3.5"??!!?? damn you must have some silky smooth roads because here in CA your car would be scraped up everywhere...

the damage on that isn't too bad.. mine looks exactly like that minus the hole and the car's been running fine for over a year now
That has to suck ***. I hate haveing to buy stuff twice. But then agian I would take it to a muffler shop and see if they coule weld it back. Just for a backup set if it happens again.
haha actually I was not being sarcastic.
with a trained hand you can cut off and reweld a bit, but it's probably not worth your time.
