OT : Alarm affect on accord
my car had trouble starting. and so i put in a new starter and distributor cap. *the cap was burnt* but then the guy at the shop said that i might need to disconnect my alarm. my alarm light is solid red most of the time because i lost my remote. i'm not too sure about this so i was wonder...
1. do alarms have any effect on the starting of the car?
2. how long before im a member and no longer a trial user?

1st you are no longer a trial user, just change your avatar. Second , yes there is a starter kill relay in most alarms located under the dash near the steering column usually.I think when the red light is solid though (in most) it usually means the alarm is in valet mode...
for me....the red light was always constant until i pressed the button on my remote. and then it would beep and start flashing. but now....since i lost my remote, it just says on solid red.
Turn your key to the on position then hold the red button that should be located under your dash or by your feet some where. Hold that button for about 4 seconds or so and it should turn out of valet mode.
all alarms are differend, id take the plastic off and get to the alarm, depending on what kind it is the wire colors may vary(brown or black) i cant remember what color honda starter wires are off hand but there should be 2 thick *** wires going to the brain of your alarm. you need connect those together and unplug the harnesses ( all of them) from your alarm. or just take it somwhere and have them do it for you.
