Default What do you guys think of this hatch?

I am in the process of looking for an EK hatch right now and I am thinking of going to pick up this car. - http://www.imagestation.com/album/?i...ulation_page=Y Let me know if you think this is worth the 7k I am gonna spend on it. It has 30,500 miles and no accidents or ever smoked in.

Thanks a lot. I thought so too and tried to get him to 6500, but I think it's a hell of a deal anyway, since it has never been touched.

looks good, but i think $7000 is alittle too much. those cars values in the kelly blue book are alittle under $5000. try to talk them down alittle, but still a good purchase.

Not bad. I like the front lip. Ask him if he has the cargo cover.

I don't know what these guys are smoking, but they're never in their wildest dreams going to find an EK that nice on the west coast for 4 - 5K. It's just not happening...maybe one that's beat to hell with 150K+ miles, but not one like that. For a '98, that is a nice find and valued at "private party" I've seen them going for up to 10 - 12K at the dealers around here.

i would go $6k if u are keeing the paint and and keep it stock since it looks to be in excellent shape. otherwise if u want a swap canidate, look out for better deals

That's a very clean car. I'd do it, but I already have that same car and same color.

6,500 would be a very good deal if you ask me. I got my 99 DX EK for 7,600 w/50k miles on it.

That thing looks just like mine did when I bought it. Just begging to be modified..

PS: That color is the **** son!

yah if you want to swap, you should look for something in good shape with high mileage. They're much cheaper that way. But if you like it enough (I did), buy it!

I think you should buy it since its my car
For whoever said its worth 4K :finger: This is not some beat to **** car with 130k miles and a salvage title
FYI kbb value which doesnt mean jack is 6700. Edmunds lists private party value at over 8K. 92-93 hatches with 100k miles go for around 3500 these days.
My car has a clean title, has never been in any accidents, never modded. I am the second owner. All maintenance done. Extremely low miles for a 98. Great condition in and out (just look at the pics). Imo the color is nice, looks even better in person. If you dont like it too bad. If your looking for a high mileage beat example this is not it. If you want a clean low mileage ek that will make a great hybrid candidate down the line this is the car for you.
I think my price is reasonable.
The plates are from my old gsr that i had before purchasing the civic. I never bothered changing them. Kinda funny driving around with "NA DC2" plates on a stock civic

I dont think anyone said your car was worth 4K.. a few of us simply stated we'd personally only pay that much. True your car is low milage, thats great if the potential buyer doesnt plan on making a swap for the next 70,000 miles. But if he is.. then it doesnt matter if its 1 mile or 100,000 miles.. either way the engine will be replaced.
I'd rather buy a older car with high milage so I can replace it then a newer car with low miles.. whats the point of paying more for a low milage car if its going to be swapped?
92-93 hatches with 100K miles go for around 3500 these days you say..? Well.. I got mine for $150 and spent only $400 in parts and paint. Bottom line.. I paid roughly $500 on my HB. And you say the color is nice.. ? I'm sure it is.. I wont deny that.. but better in person? How is it better in person? Is it a custom color?
Looks stock to me.. and I'm sure the guys here have seen a stock paint job before.. so I dont think we will be too surprised.

If you want a clean low mileage ek that will make a great hybrid candidate down the line this is the car for you.
Sorry man.. but this ISNT a good hydrid candidate. its a good car if left STOCK because of the low miles. A great daily driver too.. but hybrid candidate it is not.
Who in their right mind would spend $7K on a car just to rip it apart swap out the motor? Most guys I know buy beaters and salvaged cars with no motors for cheap and go from there.
I got my 93 HB for $150, my bro's 90' HB was $1,000 (theft recovery) and 89HF CRX for $700 (release of Liability from too many tix) Only th HB had damage to it.. but it was repaired by us and painted by us.. $500 total after the repairs.
My co-worker got a 96 GSR for 2K (salvaged) and I have my eye on a 2001 BMW 330 for roughly 12K. Guys that have built hybrids know where the TRUE value is.. its in salvaged cars.
I'm not here to burst your bubble.. I know your trying to get as much as you can for your car.. But IMO your better off selling it the want adds or to someone NOT in the import scene. That car is a nice car if left stock..

With the paint comment i was referring to the fact that the car and paint looks better in person than in the crappy quality pics. I figured that was easy enough to understand. What you have to remember is that most people do not have the time/ability/room whatever to repair junk or salvaged cars nor do they want to. I know i dont. You paid 500 for your car, good for you. I was willing to pay the extra money for an extremely clean one owner car with low mileage and clean history. I did not want a car that had a salvage title or needed a substantial amount of work. Imo to most people mileage is a deciding factor even if the car is being swapped. I would never buy a car with a crazy number of miles just like i would never buy a car with a salvage title or even one that was in a serious accident. Too many miles too many possible stories. Some people might feel different and that is fine. I have my opinions just like everyone else.
Obviously 7k is a lot of money and it is very easy to build a decent hybrid for that much if someone follows your footsteps. Ill even go out on a limb and agree that for someone who wants to build an EK on a tight budget it is overpriced. For those i would recommend doing the same thing you did. Find a junker and rebuild it. For someone who can afford it and can appreciate and justify spending a little extra for a car in such condition, its well worth it. Hell its not like im asking 10k for it
As I said in my original post, this car is for someone who wants a clean low mileage ek that will make a great hybrid candidate down the line. You did not burst my bubble, you reiterated my point. Thanks
