sis's CRX just died
Hey my sister just got home telling me that her CRX died up at the university. She said that she had been sitting in it for about 20 min with the key on the on position so the heater would blow. (
thats a girl for ya hehe). She said her dash lights faded out. Well she said she went to start it and it just "gurgled" so she called her BF and he went up to jump it. Well he hooked it up (properly I imagine) and let his car idle for about 3 min to charge it up a lil and then went to start her car and it was totally dead. No gurgle, click, no dash lights or anything. I said the batt was prolly gone being we just had a rapid drop in temp and its prolly and old battery to begin with. He said that he hooked the jumper cables up to her terminals and then brought the other ends together and got a spark so he thinks the battery is still good.
well thats all I know being I havn't been up there to check it out yet.
What do you guys think it is? Toasted battery I imagine or could it be something else?
thanks
Joe

loose ground?
if it is a manual tell them to try to push it... .. probably wont happen in this weather though..I would give those terminals and cables a thorough cleaning and inspection checking for shorts,tightness.. etc.
your sis needs a more worthy boy such as meeself!
what school does she go to?

Yea i'll give the grounds a check tommorow. Just turned 20 in october and is attending Akron University.
Her car is an auto
, but i guess that ok cuz I wouldn't get off her back till she sold it to me if it was a manual. 91, pretty clean, its that tealish color. She bought it off the lot at some dealer ship and got raped in my opinion paying like nearly $5000 2 years ago. ah well, I make sure she keeps it clean/
laterz

U might wanna check the gas, this sounds exactly like what happend to me, I dunno if she's stupid as me, but it might be cuz your outta gas.
possible problems are loose ground (on the battery, grounded to the frame),dead alternator, check and see if the battery is hooked up tight, and maybe the battery is dead itself. Maybe its not just one thing, you should check all of her things. BEcause the alternator might not be charging that battery(being that its DEAD) and the battery is not getting power ( dead also) you need these things to power the rex up
. Hope that helps

Make sure the jumper cables were hooked up right even though they were on the terminals doesnt mean they were making a good contact. Make sure you move them around abit while they are sitting on the terminals. I haul cars to and from auctiuon, dealers,...ETC...And have jumped thousands of cars and sometimes you just have to move the jumper cables around a little to get a good connection or maybe a better set of jumper cables? Those $2 Walmart ones usually doesnt cut it especially on a dead battery

I had that trouble....good battery but crappy jumper cables. Spend the extra couple bucks and get a really good set of cables.
