Default ZC Motors

WHat are the quality of the ZC motors, what kind of power do they put out. Are they worth switching from a 95 D16Z6 SOHC V-TECH to a ZC DOHC

Appreciate the help

130hp/111 (or 108, fawk; can't remember)tq

Over the SOHC VTEC-H, no. Get the upgraded 900mhz model and you'll be good. Get one of the red ones, they ad about 3hp...

Over the z6 SOHC VTEC, again no. The SOHC may only have 1 cam, but it has much more aftermarket support and parts availability is much easier. Very similar hp/tq numbers, but you have more bolt-on options for the SOHC.

Stay with the Z6. Much newer than the ZC, and i think they are stronger motors, personally. Plus the aftermarket is SO much better.

I agree with that, based on my previous ownership of a ZC.

i might be the only one but i say go with the ZC. i've been to quite a few street races around here and one of the quickest cars was a hatchie runnin' a ZC. he was spankin' GSRs going all motor. he has internals done.

Yes. With like any of the engines though, you're going to need to do internals. For a lazy person looking for bolt-on power from a turbo (a.k.a....ME), the ZC isn't the way to go. The bottom end will hold up to about 200-210hp before those spagetti rods start to have fun on your block casing. It's got a semi-low CR so boosting isn't a problem if you upgrade the bottom end; and even better if you throw on a little bit thicker of a HG. I've had fun with mine so far...
