and
What long term effects are you facing when you dont break in your car properly?

Breaking a car in is realy just breaking the motor in not exceeding say 4000 RPM and no constant speed on the freeway say like 75mph for a hour or something most will keep car at about 65mph and then every couple of min drop a couple of mph just so the car does not stay at the same RPM all the time you want it to break in at all differnt rpms. Break car in for a 1000 miles then change engine oil and then you may have fun with the car and drive hard and have a good time

As for what not breaking a car in will do in the long run well it can have piston rings can be messed up not sealed right you can cause alot of exesive engine ware to the motor and cause problems to creap up later on down the line.

OH and always let your car warm up for about 3-5 min before you drive then drive for about 5 min *NO VTEC* till motor is fully up to temp then have fun this applys every time u drive the car follow these simple steps and change fluides regularly dn you will be OK

The Engine Oil provided by the factory has a Molybendium additive. As a result, DO NOT change the engine oil until its first scheduled maintence. DO add normal 10w-30 motor oil if the level goes down during break-in. Absolutely, check the oil level at every fill up, and add as required.

Because the car is fuel injected, you don't need to let it stand while warming up. I'd recommned starting the car, and waiting about 30 seconds though. Much longer is a waste and potentially harmful. Definitely don't try revving in the VTEC range for at least five minutes. The car is mostly warm once the temp gauge displays three bars, but that doesn't mean everything is up to snuff.

As for residual effects of railing on the car right out of the gate: I sure did everything wrong here (including changing my oil at 1,000miles) but no bad news yet. 25,000 miles; 15,000 miles with supercharger. Most of the mileage is track and Autox. Good news is no problems yet, and the car completely stopped using oil around 10,000miles. Probably luck of the draw though.

break in time for S2000 is 600 miles also if im not mistaken, not 1000. 600 miles driving under 5700 rpm or vtec engagement.
