I the reason im pissed is because i raced a 97 dx hatch with I/H/E and a 5 speed and i have a 1993 civic ex coupe automatic with I/H/E and we raced and he beat me, i was right on his bumper or closer. But should i have won or does automatics really f*ck you outta that much HP? becuase if i get beat by a dx then man im selling that @#%$ or buliding for turbo what should i do? I NEED HELP!!!

 

His was stick I/H/E DX (96-00) and yours is automatic I/H/E EX (92-95). Sounds about right.

 

hmm *2 yrs ago* Me.. 98 htbk 5 speed exhaust/intake only.... vs my friend (GIRL) 99 4 door auto ex.. she had I/H/E.. and some other stuff..I always pulled easy on her we would do this everytime we would run into each other just to have fun.. and well honestly her car wasn't to much heavier than mine...auto trannys soak up alot of the actual power

Look, an EX is the Honda equivilent of a Japanese Buick. You probably have a sun roof, power windows, air conditioner, power steering, 100 lbs of audio equipment and a vibrating *****. All this stuff kills you in a drag race.

The DX killed you because it weighs less. It wasn't because of your slushbox tranny, unless you want to add its weight to the mix...

Your weight is off. It's more like a 100lb difference. Also you have the HP difference. 125 hp vs. 106hp (you forgot these figures which seem to help).

I've driven stock 5-speed ex's to high 10.9's in the 1/8th. My wifes auto ex (same year) runs 12.1's all day. So does the auto have nothing to do with it? Get it now?

Dont be pissed, i beat a 94 Ex coupe with I/H/E before in my 88 Dx 4door 5 speed. I killed him coming out of first but going into 3rd he started to catch up a little but by the time i hit 4th it was over for him

 

Well, I don't know about that, but personally I would NEVER buy a 4-cylinder automobile with an automatic transmission. If you have 600-HP under the hood, who cares? But when you're talkin' 100-HP sh!tboxes, you need all the help you can get...
