I woke up late and missed the NASA autox at Giant Stadium. Instead of going home, I went down south the NJ turnpike to catch another event.

It was at Englishtown for the Acura War...tons of TL/CL-S and RSX-S showed up.
The wind was blowing across the field so it was changed to run 1/8 mile instead.
Those guys from acura-tl, acura-cl, clubrsx.com was there early and had tons of practice runs...I got there late and missed the elimination bracket runs and only get to run for the last 4 times....

Most Tl CLs are doing high 9's, low 10's. Rsx average at 9.7-9.9, one runs 9.5 with mods and drag radials. I ran 9.3 for three times and a 9.5 on a redlined 3rd.
The only car from the Acura camp that beat me was a white GSR with god-knows-what mods and drag slicsk, running some 9.2x

Anyway, after two runs, all the Acura guys left and I was left to be lined up with pushrods ...Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :crying like a baby:


It was my first succesful drag on a strip...feather at 3000 rpm with Millenia wheels and 200 miles new Dunlop SP5000 set at 20 all corners....weight in at 2560lbs with me in it. Only driver seat and no spares. Spoon 4-2-1, a leaking B-Piple and Tanabe RMD.

Am I a bad driver? what should I expect at 1/4?

I don't think you're a bad driver, but try to work on your launch. 2.3 60' isn't the best.

 

hmmm....i had a 60 ft time of 2.2 with my gsr at the time. with type r cams, headers and drop in filter. my tires were falken azenis. oh...i'm a gsr btw. i think i can hit a better time at the next street legals with some extra mode i put on.

Bad driver? well, atleast your getting better at beating the mullet people at their own game. last time you dumped your clutch at redline or something and glazed your clutch...so i'd say you did better.

 

It was weird, I did the samething last time, but was at 4000rpm instead of 3000rpm. ppl being advertising 4000 slip launches...and it works on streets

So no one can tell me what 1/4 should I be expecting with that 9.3?

You will need a 9.0 or better for high 13's with stock cams.

 

Hmm...yeah, the weaker 98 intake cams. Previous owner claimed for 175whp, can that potentially run high 13's? Damn it! Active Aero ran high 13's with pretty much home-depot mods.

 

I ran high 13's with 175 and slicks. I also busted out a 13.66 at 100 with 174 and Kenji's ecu, untuned in the winter.

 

hmm...I suck then, better get back to autox ... oh wait, I suck at that too, lol.

did you have fun at this? it sounded like a lot of the RSX guys were disappointed by it..

 

Huh? You were there? I didn't see CWs. Them RSXs are running some high 14's...what else do they want? or you mean the 1/4 mile thing?

Well, I want to experience all kind of racing possible...after the drag, I guess I'll try one more time at a 1/4 mile then call it quit. Lastly, I need to attend some Rally school

Yeah they did whoop you pretty hard.. but i feel that just goes to show how much ***** you had to stick your chin up and stand up against those things.

 

Well, I can't reverse out of the grid since there are cars behind me. I had no choice but to get my $20 worth

nope.. didn't go.. I was working on a GSR for a friend.. but some of my friends with RSXs rolled up there.. I wouldn't have dragged my R even if I had gone though..

I think they meant they were disappointed with the amount/quality of the crew up there.. CapitalRSX has huuuuuuuge RSX meets here and I think that's what they were expecting..
