Default Drag Radials

I am in the market for a set of front tires and was wondering if Drag Radials would be an option. I was just wondering how many miles you could get out of them and how they handled in the rain, best brand, sizes, they would be going on a set of 15" SI's. Info would be apperciated.

the best drag radials i know of in 15inch size is the bf goodrich comp t/a 225/50/15. they hook the best for a 15 inch tire. they dont last more than 5-10k miles depending on driving. other than that nitto's work pretty well and last longer than the bf. the nitto has 100 treadwear and the bf has 0.

i have the nitto 555 drag radials. they hooked up on launches pretty well. they dont last very long though. give it a couple months of daily driving. the rubber compound is very soft and you'll get rocks flying all over your fender well. i went from a 14.9 to 14.2 from street tires to those nittos

my opinion. get a cheap pair of Rota's 15" X 6.5"... and 225/50/15 BFG Drag Radials - and just swap them on every time you want to go out and have some fun.

if you wanna hook, get the bfg g-force t/a drag radials.. much softer then anything else. i have about two weeks of daily driving with one trip to the track and they've only lost maybe 15% of the treadwear. they're OK wet but I wouldn't go tryin any james bond maneuvers or anything even in the dry.. they're basicly only good in a straight line when its dry. they feather just like slicks, i'll take a picture of mine tomarrow its pretty funny

whoa! you guys suggest 225's instead of 205's? i'm just curious on your reasoning for that? would it be because when you air down(to say maybe 20psi), the height would be near stock 195/55's? i've used the bfg's before. borrowed them from a guy on team-integra.net. he has an s/c 4dr gsr. they were 205/50 on 95 gsr rims. with the 205/50 aired down to 20 psi they would indeed be shorter than stock, but wouldn't this help in acceleration due to less revs per mile/minute? sort of "shortening" the gearing?

i'm considering getting my own set. so 205's or 225's? please explain. i was looking to mount them on axis maglites 15x7. i'd get the rotas but i wanted a 7" wide rim. another 15x7 i was considering was 5zigen fn-01r.

would the 225's not rub? also, dwilson says he has si's. wouldn't these be too wide for him?

for front wheel drive applications the bfg g-force comp t/a is the tire to go with. the regular comp t/a is harder and designed for a rear wheel drive car.

Not if you don't have enough power for them, but then again I'm an NA guy in the FI forum...

so austin you think the 205 would be better for us n/a guys? and the 225 would benefit f/i guys because they have more power thus they probably get more wheelspin and would need a bigger contact patch to hook up. is this how you see it?

Yep, those are my thoughts. I used the 205's at the NHRA event and was happy with them, although I did have some clutch issues. I've used the nitto 205's for over 200 runs and I was happy, routinely getting 2.1's and some 2.0's, with the stickier BFG's I think that the 2.0's should be more commonplace, and maybe I'll be lucky enough to get some 1.9's...

I'm going to be running 305/40/18 nitto DR's on the back of my RR, and I had some 315/35/17's on the back of my mustang and they hooked great, and lasted for about 8 thousand miles (normal driving and a 3 or 4 street races a week) They're a good compromise between bias ply slicks or E/T streets and a street radial.

I wouldn't recommend BFG DR's for a daily driver though. I had a set of 345/55/15's on the back of my roadrunner before and I went through them in about 4K miles. My car was a weekend driver and I did a lot of street racing on them, though. I would imagine that not driving with a heavy foot ALL the time you could get 6 or 7K miles out of them.

On the Nitto I was able to get ~8000 street miles and ~200+ runs out of them, but they've lost their sticky surface and take one hell of a burnout to get any traction whatsoever.

why would you bother to put them in the rear? i think you're wasting some good tires there. your car isn't all-wheel drive is it?

ok well then you didnt go to the site and see what i do with the car then....

dont get me wrong drag is fun, but what i like the best is course racing....so i wanted some good sticky tires so i thought hey why not try these, they are basically Toyo Ra1's with nitto's name on it.......(and a few other differences, but minor)

so thats why i have them on all four, rather than make a drift warrior with stickies on the front and hard 400 tread wear continental tires on the rear, might as well match tires all the way around

<<< about to try out the 225/50/15 BFG's.

ive run the 205/50/15 BFG's on the street and track for 5months last year during race season. I put em on in march ran at the track/street races weekly and got 4k miles till they were bald. then I drove another 2k on em before they got to the belts.

Ive also drivin a turbo integra on the 205/45/16 nitto 555r's and a supercharged GSR on the 205/45/15 555r's..

the 16" ones worked nicely, anyone w/ a 16" rim and turbo car I would reccomend these tires. they lasted over 10k miles on my buddys car and hooked great.
but the 15" rim nittos are just way to low profile, those things wouldnt hook for **** and they were only on a supercharged gsr.

the other tire out there that I want to try isnt a drag radial but the falken azenis. I have heard so much good about them i ordered a pair of those too. ive heard of people hitting 2.0's on them and having them last 15k miles a tire. at 70$ a pop u cant beat that.

if u want maximum accleration on street tires u arent going to beat the 225/50/15 BFG unless u go to a taller/wider tire not made for FWD. then u have the option of running ET streets or 555r's made for domestics.
