Well I said **** the gaskets. I got frustrated and just bolted the sucka up. Anyway, I was going to use the factory spring bolts, but they don't fit because the tab on the bolts won't fit through the header bolt holes or the cat bolt holes. so what bolts did you use and were you able to retain the stock springs?? thanks in advance
-kenrick....who doesn't really care anymore if there are no gaskets. but would like to know how people bolted this thing to jdm headers. I have T1R header and I assume the bolt holes are the same size on all headers and the same on all smsp cats. thanks again.
well at least i get to drive her, which makes me

um... washers? hole-drilled thru a quarter? what do u think of the T1R... i plan to get one soon
edit: i got some grade 8 bolts (forgot what lenght tho), lock washers, regular washers all from lowes (or any hardware/home improvment store), forgot what length, tho... and yes i kept the stock springs

explain what i could do with washers?? I know I could use a drill and make the holes bigger, but I want to stay away from doing that if at all possible because that means there will not be as much metal to keep the bolt stable. the holes are already quite close to the edge... as for T1R exhaust....get the new one. this one has a couple bottlenecks. Fitment and quality are top notch.
Just run down to the local OSH hardware and pickup some bolts that fit, it's what I ended up doing.

ook... im sorry. missed read ur post... but no u cant use ur stock header bolt... u need like a 3" (whatever size, forgot) w/o that tab to make it work
here's a pic...
the order (L to R):bolt>washer>spring>lock washer>nut
HTH
PS, i was asking aobut the header... do u feel significant gains? low or hi end... etc... give us a review..

actually I just took her for a drive. I was using no gaskets and the cat was not bolted to the header completely.
For one thing....it is loud as hell. I didn't get a chance to WOT the bitch but I did hit it up to 7000 or so. Vtec was painful to my ears. Most likely because it was not bolted up all the way. The car seems to pull into vtec quite quick. A lot more low and mid range power. On this twisty road by my house it usually takes a while for my car to get from 2000-6000 at WOT in third...but damn....it revved up really quick and I was not even pushing the gas hard at all.
At idle the car has a nice pulsating purr and I can hear a lot of air going through the cat and header. This is the old T1R header not the power header. 390 well spent IMO. After I get this thing tuned I will be able to give a full review.
