Default OT: Recaro trade

OK, so this doesn't really belong in this forum, but since all the people I know are in the FI forums, I just thought i'd ask for an opinion.

Found some kid with a Recaro Pole Position bucket seat (black) in his EG hatchabck.. something i've wanted to get for my integra (either that or a Bride bucket seat) - anyway, I jokingly ask him if he wants to swap it with my driver side black ITR Recaro.. and he agrees.

Is this a fair trade (on my behalf)? The only thing I need to do is prepare my ITR Recaro seat with EG rails so that it can go into his car.

His bucket seat is in mint condition.. my seat has the right-side bolster a little torn on the inside, but nothing too noticable.

I hope you're being sarcastic

Nah, i've always wanted a bucket seat, and the pole positions seem to be quite comfy for daily driving, you just have to have the seat angled backwards correctly so that your back won't ache from sitting up too straight (like this kid has it set up in his car)

I think it will complement my Integra well I also have a blue Trust/Willans 4-point safety harness sitting here in my room waiting to be used with it (was originally gonna use it with my current ITR Recaros, but decided not to coz I was scared that I would wreck the seat cloth)

Nathan after driving your car for a week you are gonna be wanting your seat back. That non adjustable seats are great for track deals but daily driving, getting on and off the car... It's gets old after a while.

I'd keep your seats. Maybe a trade for a few days? But the brackets arent going to be worth it.

I think its a good trade. i like the feel of recaro race bucket compared to a reclining recaro srd. when you run heavy rear springs, a race bucket makes the car a lot more bearable.

I still think the bucket seat is worth much more money than the ITR seat..
if I wanted to, I could sell it for profit, and buy back another ITR seat, plus have leftover change if I don't like it

You have easy access to them where you are.. see here people would sell their own lil annoying sisters to the black market for Japanese ITR seats.

from what I just heard.. EG/DC seat rails connect at the same spots, so I won't have to get this seat modified at all!

Although I will have to get the front of his recaro rails modified in order to raise the front of the seat so that it tilts back more.

lol, since my integra isn't finished yet, i'll probably run the bucket seat in my civic sedan for a week or two until its ready to go into the teg I already have both the ITR recaro's sitting in my civic

Go for the trade. Have you compared your SRD with the pole positions. The pole positions are awesome unlike the heavy barely supportive SRDs. Well I'm more of a track person and I can bare with not having much comforts. just my $0.02

he's gonna give me a little square cushion to put under my *** to make it more comfortable (and to protect the fabric from being torn or disaster if I wet/**** my pants)

Got it installed today. Looks a little strange sitting inside an EK Civic sedan, but oh well

I have to get the rails modified because the seat is very low (i feel like a kid now, much harder to see over the steering wheel) and it sits upstraight too much

Also, its only being held by 3 screws, since EG/DC2 rails only line up with 3 holes on EKs, but i'll be moving the seats back into my integra next week once the engine has been built and the car is back on the road.

How does it look? Scary I have connected my 4 point safety belt, and if you're driving from behind my car, you see a big "RECARO" written in white on the back of the headrest Its now almost impossible to access the light switch on the roof But it holds me well, a bit tight in the shoulders, but i'll get used to it. The car feels so different now when I take corners, I love it

I'll post pictures later once I can get the digicam from my dad's office.
