Yikes...how bad was it? I know the yellow itr was most likely hecklervtec.

I just heard that the person that wrecked wants to keep a low profile about it, and I was told that he is doing fine, no injury.

Evidently he spun and the car rolled back into traffic where he connected with a 240.

Austin

Ugh!!! That is the worst!!! I feel even worse for the 240 driver. His car gets pwn3d because of the ITR driver's error

Sucks all around when fun w/ your streetcar turns into destruction and misery

Actually it's the 240 driver's responsibility NOT to hit the car ahead of him.

This could be like the chicken vs. the egg debate, though.

If it's a case of (possible) ITR throttle lift oversteer-induced spin that destroyed the 240, then who is truly at fault? Driver error vs. wrong place at wrong time?

Sure, the 240 probably should have kept a few car lengths apart for safety, but who knows? It is possible that the car that spun could be more responsible for creating the mess (not that I'm implying it is, because I don't know the whole story).

This will be ugly for insurance as both of them need to claim on a race track with no police report....

Driver School...with cars going over 80mph at each other.

To my understanding, insurance will not cover this. Unless you milk the description of what you were doing really well.

heh, I got away with mine wreck...but I didn't collide with other cars. So this one is a toughy. If both car has instructors present, it would help abit.

Key words:

HPDE = Driving School
Race track = A facility with collections of pavements for the driving school. (Say this when they ask you what street this happens on)

this is what driver of 240 described to me. he was following the ITR entering T10. ITR oversteered towards the inside. he thought he'd be safe and went on the outside. this is a school group, group 4. ideally he should've slowed down and waited, BUT if they were both going at speed into T10 near the limit, there's not much the 240 driver can do but stay committed. if he lifted he'll spin too.

anyway the ITR overcorrected and fish tailed towards the outside now, collecting the 240, and then both cars hit the left wall. most like the ITR would've hit the wall anyway. it's hard to say weather 240 could've done anything really. it's just a shitty deal.

and FWIW the 240 is a full ITS race car. the driver was pretty quick. turning 1:55-56's.
