Default APEX'i WS Exhaust question...

Searched but didn't get any useful answers, this exhaust is 2.25" all the way through, how much performance gain would this exhaust yield compared to a 2.5" catback?

If i'm planning on going with Toda A's would this be a good exhaust or should I get 2.5" catback? Thanks.

More questions: I have a 2.5" carsound cat modified by SMSP to fit to my stock exhaust system, this one would bolt on correctly, right?

Also:

Inlinefour has it for $435 or so, anyone know where else to get it for cheaper? Thanks.

FYI. I have a '95 Cvic, and the workmanship on the exhaust was terrible. I had two of them, and both of them didn't fit. Even after sending one back to Apex'i and explaining the problem. It simply wasn't bent right. In addition, much of the 'special coating' was already comming off, just from shipping.

I'm not a big fan of their exhausts.

Just sharing my experiences...

How much power to you wish to end up with?

This will bolt onto your carsound cat.

PS: Let me know if you REALLY want this, my friend can get you a good price.

Apex-i N1 or a true 2.5 Custom for optimal gains!

Why don't you get the SMSP exhaust? It is an awesome, very well made, high quality exhaust.

How would the Apexi N1 give any more gains than the WS? They are both 60mm OD.

N1 has a straight through muffler design unlike the WS, WS is more a traditional muffler that is not as loud, therefore not straight through!

Get something more free flowing, the Apexi WS is a baffled exhaust designed to be quiet not for high HP. If you want quiet performance, go with the Fujitsubo RM-01A, Mugen twin loop, or something custom.

If you want quiet - stock or mugen.
I wouldn't call the fujitsubo 'quiet'. I drove mugenmike's mugen exhaust equipped R and i never heard the exhaust once, and he's got a test pipe, too. You're lucky if you hear my J's intake (similar sound to an AEM, just not screaching at the upper rpm's) over my exhaust. It's just not fawking loud like many other exhausts. Then again, I have a test pipe which I'm sure is contributing to the sound.

My question: Why would you got 2.25" straight through when you can get 2.5" straight through and much better quality out of a T1R, fujitsubo, etc, etc??

I doubt the muffler will make much difference. The large chambered design of the WS likely flows enough for sub 200whp cars. I think get whatever you like best, most all of the Japanese brand exhausts are 60 or 60.5mm OD. If you really want to be different go with a 2.5" system like SMSP or the new Type One. HyTech also has one that is similarly priced but who knows when one will be completed for a stock length header.

My RM-01A is decently quiet for a high flow exhaust, but I'm running a Comptech Icebox with ITR intake hose and JDM ITR header. But your right, the Mugen is quieter. I really don't think it is possible to get a high flowing exhaust system without sacrificing some quietness.

Couldn't even hear the mugen, not even at 9K. Just alot of AEM screaming. Let's just say that you can hear the fujitsubo before you see the car, but it has a very nice, deep tone. It's just plain badass in vtec.

Back to the topic, I just don't see how a smaller ID exhaust would be an option, unless price is a serious determining factor.

Twin-loops are the only mufflers I've found that are able to be very quiet and still perform as well as if there was no muffler there at all. Also mid-pipe resonators help out the noise too and don't sacrifice any flow.

Well, originally I wanted to get the Hytech Exhaust but its VERY expensive. Almost as much as the Mugen Twinloop. The WS is cheap for a catback and I was just wondering if it performed well. I know you get what you pay for but I just wanted to get some feedback.

depending on your other mods, i'd say get something larger, like the T1R. There's a good number of exhausts available in the $700 range that are 2.5" or so all the way through. I seen much positive about the WS's quality.

Just read up on the Fujitsubo and it seems like a good exhaust system, how much is it by the way?

IM leo (itrinej1) or mike m about pricing. I love it. It will require a very short cat/test pipe... 12". even shorter than the cat used with the jdm length header and stock/usdm length exhaust.

Man, I need an exhaust within the next month or so, I think I might go with a cheap system.

I've heard the APEX N1 is good, but what B-pipe would you get to use with it?

jdmhondaparts.com says that the N1 is a 2.25 inlet.
