Default Dyno numbers.... (fujitsubo vs stock exhaust, p73 vs p28)

No graphs yet... i'm going to scan them now. Still waiting to get the dyno files so I can overlay a few graphs and compare with some of the other R's that were there. Note: all graphs are UNTUNED.... I get my vafc next week, so i'll have to go back sometime soon.

Setup used for ALL graphs: J's racing intake, DC JDM 4-1.

1. Stock exhaust/hi flow 2.5" cat with stock P73 - 167.2 hp 122.2 tq
2. Stock exhaust/hi flow 2.5" cat with Kenji's P28 - 168.5 hp 122.5 tq
3. Fujitsubo RM-01A + Test pipe with stock P73 - 174.3 hp 125.4 tq
4. Fujitsubo RM-01A + Test pipe with Kenji's P28 - 173.0 hp 125.4 tq

The only difference between 3 and 4 was the VTEC engagement and the peak HP.

Another Note: Kenji's P28 (thanks cosworth) ran very rich, and i'm sure some tuning would be very beneficial. Same thing for the stock ecu, it just wasn't nearly as rich....

With both setups, the only difference with the p28 was the vtec engagement. Very little difference in the hp and tq curves. The VTEC engagement was pretty violent with both my setups.

Graphs/videos will be up shortly. After seeing the improvements from everyone tuning with vafc, it is safe to say that with the stock ecu, fujitsubo/test pipe setup, I'd probaby be right around 180-182. The a/f could really use a ton of tuning....

Thanks again to everyone who helped me with installs friday, switch around my setups so quickly on saturday, charles at CJ motorsports for the dyno and Leo for the exhaust.

Stock exhaust/hi flow cat with p28/p73
Fujitsubo/test pipe vs. stock exhaust/hi flow cat with p73
Fujitsubo/test pipe vs. stock exhaust/hi flow cat with p28
Fujitsubo RM-01A/test pipe with p73 and another run with same setup
Fujitsubo RM-01A/test pipe with p28 and p73
Fujitsubo RM-01A/test pipe with p28

how were your mid-range numbers between 2 ECU's?

Also, how many runs did you do per your setup (1-4)? For me, I didn't get the highest peak numbers until 3rd run of each of my setup.

I took 3-4 runs with each setup. The 3rd run was the highest in most cases. (all runs in 4th gear)

Midrange... same with both ecu's. Odd. The the hp/tq for each ecu (with similar setups) were very similar, except for hp/tq at vtec engagement, since the p28 was at 5500 and the p73 is 5700. Graphs will probably explain more than I can. I'm working on them....

Did you take A/F ratio's for each run?

Yeap a/f ratio was taken with all the graphs. Working on scans... it is hard to scan at work when you have to use the department secretary's scanner...

1107,

The program that you have likes to have more mods (e.g. cam gears, bigger TB, and cams).

However, in your case a fuel controller will get the AF ratio where you want it and power will improve throughout the RPM range.

Damn i didnt get my Kenji ecu in time for the dyno. I only did two runs and there wasnt rest in between runs. The first run, Charles forgot to turn on the fans for part of the first run. The results were 164 peak i believe. Then with the fans on for the 2nd run the car did peaked at 170.2/122 something. I almost didn't go cause i forgot to clean my filter that was left with primer dust all over it by the bodyshop. I'll probably dyno again with a clean filter + and uncut aem. The by pass valve sucks ***. btw, nice numbers Chris.

Good runs. Makes me even more excited for when I get my RM-01A.

BTW you should have done a J's vs Stock...I know there are plenty of people here wanting to know its #'s.

Or the AEM vs J's(not me )vs Stock. That would have been nice to see.

I'm getting a mugen intake probably next week or the week after. I will do a baseline with the mugen plus the current setup that made 174.3/125.5 to compare. I also have my stock setup... I could throw that in also.

I am going to tune with a vafc in about a month and the mugen intake. We'll see what happens. I'll see if I can get the stock box for that, too.

Kenji,
Thanks for the info. I'm sure the ecu would make much better power if I had tuned the fuel curve. once I post the graphs, it will be pretty obvious that the p28 had a lot more potential since it was super rich untuned.

Nate should answer, but I think close to 169 tuned. I think he can get much more power with my hi flow cat he's buying and more tuning. I guess he didn't know (nor did i) exactly how to tune the cam gears correctly (didn't know if the marks were 1 or 2 degrees, didn't re-check the timing), so I'm guessing a second try at the dyno would gain good power.
