has anyone taken off the black sideskirts on a 4th gen?? i have a 4th gen red and the sideskirts are black and are ugly... has painted over them to match the color or taken them off or how much are new sideskirts??

 

Yeah, you can paint them, wouldn't be expensive to do. I thought about doing that to my 5th gen sides, until I bought my bodykit sides...

 

A few coats with a matched can of paint does wonders. Just take them off and clean it up really good. Then start spraying a few LIGHT coats. Don't try to cover it all in one coat, it won't work...trust me. Do a few light coats, letting each coat dry at least 5-10 mins between. After the 5th or 6th layer, it'll turn out a smooth and deep color. You should try to concentrate on spraying in even layers, don't let it build up in one area or else it'll drip.

 

I got mine painted professionally for 150cad...for the sides and front lip, and it looks really good for a stock car...just take them off and bring them there, unless of course you want to do it yourself, but if ya got the cash, why not take it to the shop!

 

Before I got the rest of my kit I had the stock sides painted...looked good enough for me...

Yeah, there was a thread ages ago on HP.com, and some people were saying to sand them smooth; anyone got pix of this done? Considering whether it's worth the extra effort of sanding for a smooth finish...
