i drove it today to church and after church i went outside to leave and it woudln't start. none of my lights were working either so my friend told me to try and jump it....and it still didn't crank..... the key just turns and the engine dosn't even try to start. any ideas of whats wrong?

check all the fuses, especially under the hood.

 

sounds like what happened to me, make sure you getting spark, and put your key in that start position, you should hear your fuel pump turning on, i bet its your ignitor or ignition coil, i bet ignitor. check for spark.

 

i'm going to go back tomorrow and check all the fuses. i can't check now cause i'm home and i just left it in my church parking lot.

how do i check for spark?

 

take of a spark plug wire, stick a screw driver down their and put another screwdriver to metal shaft of the screwdriver that is down there, and have a friend try to start your car, if you a spark, then you know its something else.

 

You turned the key and nothing happend?? No dummy lights or radio?? What about the Dome Light??

Yeah, you can check for spark if you want. A lot of good that's gonna do when it seems as if you don't even have any power going anywhere..

First thing I'd do is yank on the Battery cables and check my fuses..

um......you know when you put in your key and you get that beeping noise? i get that...and my alarm goes off senselessly on its own in a low volume.

i have no clue whats wrong with it. i'm gonna go try what you said tonight...hopefully it'll start and then i can take it to the shop and see whats really wrong with it. before...the shop told me that i needed to get a new igniter and new distributor....could that be it? but whats the deal with having no power?
