Ran an S2000...
sup u guys... my friends and i went to LACR friday and he had brought his sister's S2k... anyways whenever he ran 1/4 mile he'd hit 16.4 or 16.8.... when i took the bad boy for a run i hit a 16 flat... and HOLY FAWKING **** THAT VTEC IS ******* INSANE!!!!! i was expecting it to be like my friends VTEC prelude but wow... the S2k is something else.. props to all u owners...
on another note.. why the hell would we hit such high times??? another s2k at the track hit a 14.9.. the only difference was that ours had 18" heavy rims... but should that really prevent us from hitting low times?? and also it would choke at the launch whether we launched at 3k rpm or 5k rpm... btw the clutch has been replaced cause my friends sister cannot drive...hehe... please gimme some input on why it would be that slow...
PS: the car was NOT broken in correctly... my friend was punching it left and right when it had <50 miles on it....

Many factors probably affected your 1/4 mile times.
1. LACR is a sh*tty track - high elevation, etc. 14.9 is probably an awesome time for an S2000 there.
2. Weak engine - you say you're friend did not break it in properly. That probably had a negative effect on the engine.
3. You were launching too low. Optimal launches are obtained by revving the car up to 6500rpm. You should start with 6500, and increase or decrease depending on how much tire spin you're getting.
4. Like others said, the 18-inch rims will slow the S2000 down a bit.
EDIT: Spelling errors.

What color S2k is it, and what rim's. I might of seen it around.
and high 16's ouchhhh.. yeah if u had launched at 7k it woulda help't a lil more. but 16.0 on 18's, they should be way lower.

yea definitely need to be launching at like 7,000rpm....i wouldn't do it more than once in a blue moon though, or you'll have more problems with the car. I have 4,200 miles on mine now and I can still count on one hand how many high rev clutch drops i've done.

don't worry about doing high rpm clutch dumps if you can do it right. People talk about the S2k as if it's some delicate fragile thing that will break under stress, all the while forgetting it wrings out at 9000rpm.
I have 24,000 miles on my car and recently got a new clutch from doing TSB54. (fix for buzzing noise, FREE new clutch.
)
Anyways, you can ask anyone here who knows me, I'm the biggest race ***** there is. That's 24,000 miles of weekend after weekend at the street races, time after time at the track, launching more times than I can count anywhere between 4500-6500rpm. I launch that car probably several times a week at least. On track days I'll do 10-15 runs. I street race just about every weekend in the summer and race several times a night there. As well as what I run into on day to day encounters.
They pulled the clutch out, and I wanted to see how my car was holding up. The clutch looked brand new, with hardly a mark or sign of wear on it. The flywheel also looked fine, as well the the drivetrain and differential. (i had them look at the differential for a "noise" I heard.... meaning there was no noise, I just wanted them to check it out) The differential still looked brand new with no wear on it at all.
Dump the clutch at 5k or 6k all you want. Could you have a problem or two? Yes, maybe. Though I think your chances of anything catastrophic are close to nil, as long as the car is stock.

i have an s2k and if you hit only 16 flat on the s2k you cant drive. i hit 14 flat on stock tires running off the headers and 13.5 with slicks the s2k is much faster than you think.
What were ur 60fts?
At palmdale, my friend's 98 prelude with i/h hit 15.9. Another friend with a 91 ls, b20vtec hit 15.90 also at lacr. That's with stock 9.3 compression
, ls tranny which requires double clutching in 3rd gear, shitty *** tires, 2.5 60ft, and he's a big guy (270lbs). You should definately be faster than them.
It's either you guys can't drive or ur motor is weak as hell.

16's sec 1/4 mile is horrible
stock should be 14 flat roughly
seen 13.8 with n1 exhaust
my buddy ran 13.7 with some basic bolt ons and he launched at 7500rpm
geez 16's lol

That's it. VTEC the car as much as possible before 600 miles. I really feel sorry for the car. Jeez...some people...
