99 DX engine into 88 DX. NOOb to this generation.
I just sold my 99 DX engine to a guy to put into his 88 DX.
I am not familiar with that generation, I would like to know what mounts need to be used to get the 99 engine into the 88.
And I suggested him to use the 88 DX's engine harness, is that appropriate?
Will the 99 DX shift linkage work with it too?

You can use the stock 88 mounts, but I think you need 1 of the 99 mounts for one of the sides not sure. I hear the linkage can be used also.
He needs to convert from DPFI to MPDI which is only like a 6 wire job or something though.

Can anyone give me some iformation on doing this?
Use the 88-91 mounts on the entire engine. Unless your using the DX intake manifold need to swap ECU. That motor uses the funky intake manifold right its kinda same theory as the 88-91 Dx's intake. If its MPFI need to rewire for 2 xtra injectors can search on that. The shift linkage wouldn't change. You have to use a cable tranny or get everything to convert it to hydro.
If you want to keep it a bolt in, no rewiring, you need to use the 88DX complete intake manifold, and distributor. It bolts right in to the 99 engine.
If you want to use the 99Dx manifold, then you need to do a MPFI convertion.
It requires a new distributor as well, one from a 88-91 CRX HF or Si, plus a CRX Si ECU.
I did that exact same swap on except it went on an HF.
On the HF is easyer since it is already a MPFI engine.
About the mounts, you need ALL the mounts + brackets for the 88 that bolt to the motor. That way it will go right in w/o modifications.
You will also need to use the 88 DX tranny.

the kid that is doing the swap is a friend of mine. all he did was pop his dx motor. so what im getting from this is if we use the stock mpfi with stock ecu, it should just be a plug and play setup?
this is why i
honda tech. thanks guys. i'll probably end up helping on this swap, and didnt want any more problems then we'll HAVE to face

Oh cool.. I was hoping he would have some help if he does it himself. (I think he mentioned he was having someone put it in..?)
I was kindof curious about this too, I was going to use that motor to build a 80's honda for my sister.
Any more added info is appreciated. Thanks doods.
