Si Tranny Bearings - Help?
Was wondering if anybody has a good used Si trans for sale. My bearings are shot - they snap crackle and pop and sound like shiz. Also would it be hard to replace the bearings or is it just worth it to buy another? Help. If somebody has one that is honestly good I'll buy asap.
I have a 91 Si tranny for sale w/130k on it(just took it off 2 weeks ago).. it needs the mainshaft bearings like your current one, tranny could shift at 8k nicely, no grinds.. $100 and its yours I'm in PA area(allentown) could meet at phillipburgs mall in NJ.. reason why i opted this is because you wouldnt have to pull your current half running tranny leaving your car sitting for awhile, while you rebuilt it. As you could rebuild this fast and just swap over in 1-2 hours just like that instead of 1-2 day thing maybe more waiting for parts to come in.

I just did a complete rebuild on an Si tranny, it wasn't hard at all!!!! Just make sure you keep the parts orginized and in order. My shop is next door to a tranny shop and they ordered a rebuild kit (all new bearings, syncros, and seals) for $160.00. They also could've gotten me a profesionally rebuilt trans for apx $300.00 That was their cost so unless you have good friends in the buisness, plan on paying a little more for markup. If you have a Helms it'll be no sweat, I did it with a haynes, but I had to look at the tranny shop's books for a couple of things because the haynes really only covers the 84-87 trannys. there are a couple of differences.
If you want to rebuild yours, feel free to IM me, I'll give you a few pointers
Edit: here's what you can expect to find inside:

you'll need to get a transmission shop to pull the bearings in the case.
not nessisarily, I had them help me pull mine out, and all we used was basic hand tools, punches, hammers, screwdrivers, and a torch to heat one of the stubborn ones so it would come out easier.
