quick oil question...

Default quick oil question...

is it ok to mix oil brands? totaly n00b question but just wanted to know, for example like using castrol 5w30, than later adding a quart of mobil 5w30. is this ok or a no no?

i'm kinda curious about that too. like...what if you're desperate and thats all u had too. haha i woulnd't think it would be that bad. how much are u thinking about putting in ? like the whole quart?

I try not to,,,
and carry and extra bottle of Oil where ever I go.
Just for those days where ya have no choice, Ya can. Its better to have some oil rather then No oil.

what kind of castrol do you use on your R? you should use nothing but synthetic oil on it because of the high rev's. i use castrol syntec 5w for winter and 10w for summer.

Joe, I'd rather have enough oil in my engine rather than have to drive without enough oil because the brands were different. In emergengy situations, so long as the weight is the same, and so long as the brand is a known brand, I see no problem in mixing two different brands of oil with the same weight.

no i was asking cause this is tottaly temp. prolly like 200-400 miles at most. thas why i was asking. shoulda phrased it better. "is it ok to run different brand for a few hundred miles. my bad guys for the confusion
